Not a 1955. '53 Chevrolet Bel Air 4-Dr.
Was always one of my most favourite cars in the game as a kid. It has the side-trim of a '55 Chevrolet Bel Air 4-Dr, but the whole car body-style and features are definitely late-'50s full-size Chrysler, circa '57-'58 at the latest. The car reminds me most of a '58 Chrysler (rather than a De Soto or Dodge) - more specifically a Saratoga 4-Dr (body & fins) crossed with a foreign-market Dodge Kingsway (Front) circa the same year... Then again, a lot of old US cars in Cuba are cobbled together with aftermarket parts!
Full model name for this (and other '55-'57 Nomads on the site) is Chevrolet 'Bel Air Nomad'. Model 2429.
Called a Delray in the game, but the full correct model name is '1955 Chevrolet Two-Ten' (Delray Club Coupe), model 2124.
The car resembles a mixture of mid-late '60's-70's (mostly GM) wagons as stated - Buick, Chevrolet, Oldsmobile and Pontiac. There's also some Chrysler cues in there too, mostly seen on Plymouth wagons. But I'm reminded a lot of - and like to pretend this car is an old FOMOCO Mercury Colony Park - due to the fake wood trim. -- Last edit: 2014-07-24 23:02:09
I love to use this classic (at least the Beater version) as a sort of primitive tour bus and pretend to be an unsigned band touring around the state!
Yep, a ’57 Chevy with a ’57-’58 Cadillac front (both GM vehicles)… Add the distinctively '57 Chevy classic hood custom job, give it old-school rod custom wheels, paint them white, respray the body a tasty turquoise blue/green or even Christine red. Add-on cool fender points, lightly tint the windows, beef up the power with a level 4 engine upgrade and a turbo, racing brakes, racing transmission, bullet-proof tyres and 100% armour... this is probably my favourite car in the game! Love to take it for a spin in the storm drain/aqueduct (ala ‘Grease’) while playing the Channel X station! Love the cool rat-rod "Beater" variant, too!
I wasn't implying that "everything old is bad" (Personally, I love old cars!). I was just describing the act of going online and trying to identify very generically-designed cars in old games from a personal, but satirical point of view - not objectively. As in – “I like this website, but I could be doing better things”. (But ironically in replying to your post I’m only asserting my lack of a social life). Lol Anyway, I still think this image should just be in the comment section.
^^^^^ The front made me think of a '58 Cadillac, too. I'm most likely a minority on this one, but I'd like it if the Oceanic, Glendale, Hermes, Walton and the old-style Voodoo came back too! (Especially if they blend the front of the Oceanic with the body of the Glendale and vice/versa like they should have done in the first place).
I remember this game - and this level, and this car. Let me just say - this car looked nothing like a '57 Chevy (aside from the side stripe and small fins). It was/is too generic to be identified as any make or model of car, at least not a '57 Chevy. If anything it is based on an a more angular, slib-sided early '60's car. Personally, I'd have taken a better capture and just left the image in the comments. Wow... debating what old cars in old games are based on... is this what life has come to? I need to get out more. Lol
Nice! | ||
Nice to see the older style split-screen VW Bus/van/wagon.
Sweet! | ||
Nice! | ||
Yes! Another classic! | ||
Skid wrote I disagree...this game definitely needs more 1950s classics. What it needs less of is bland, late-model commuter cars. Every time I turn around they're releasing something like a 2004 Nissan Sentra. I agree! And I suppose a few more classic European cars. Maybe some more Brits?
It's a 150 (One-fifty). BTW it is unlockable.
'58 Impala? This? Nope. No way.
WHAT???!!! This looks NOTHING like a '58 Chevy Impala!!!
Looks a lot like a Dodge Diplomat, especially this one... www.igcd.net/vehicle.php?id=28462
In my opinion this is the very best car made in the last 10 years.
The front also reminds me of a Ford Anglia 105E and a Citroen DS
The front reminds me so much of an Austin Allegro!
Then just use Imageshack and select the URL's for forum thumbnails: imageshack.us/
Sweet! Makes me want to look out for the game now!
This particular Kadett was in '84/85: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Opel_Kadett#Kadett_E It 'looks' like many other cars, including a ZX, Seat, many other types of cars. But it does not look too realistic, so all I was suggesting was that we should move pictures of cars that are too generic like this to the comments?
Ford78 wrote 1982 Opel Kadett This could be anything It's times like this that I wonder why this site was even created. First of all: Opel Kadett E/Vauxhall Astra Mk2 came out just before 1985, not '82. Second: It resembles so many other cars yet it is not distictive enough to label as a specific make or model of car, it is too blurred and badly designed. Third: With the many cars like this that are just too generic, why not just move them into the comments like on IMCDB? It will save space, plus I believe only the most realistic cars such as those from Gran Turismo and Driver should be on this site. Those on GTA in which are mock-ups of cars should still be featured because they have better graphics and are clearer - Easier to identify. This, I feel is rather pathetic.
PS1 Version had the special 'Long Tail' look.
1963 | ||
Much like the one from the original.
Sweet, you're right, even the rear looks the same: imcdb.org/images/130/475.jpg So '74 Plymouth Satellite Coupe.
Although more rock solid missions are the flying school ones, and the rest Mike Torino commands at the aircraft graveyard.
I belive another way is to find the car during vigilante missions.
Or maybe it's just a wider '86 model? or maybe even a '92 Accord Wagon?
The only place I could find this was at the gas station, near the seaport, east of San Fierro.
Black Bart wrote Either a 1960 Chevrolet Bel Air or a 1960 Chevrolet Biscayne. Biscayne. This was the cheapest Chevrolet sedan in 1960, being the base model it had less trim and interior extras than the Bel Air and the high-range Impala. Thank goodness it comes in more than one colour and without the stupid hydraulics in San Andreas! -- Last edit: 2010-03-07 18:25:56
Mr.GTA wrote 1959 Chevrolet Impala 1960.
Damm it, just like in Vice City, a comlpete mess. All the other cars are designed well, but this?
Synobis wrote It's Actually A '58 Impala, Everything Is Next To Identical Except R* Removed A Set Of Lights From The Front And Back. I've Got A Model Of The '58 Impala. There's Basically No Differences But The Lack Of A Pair Of Head/Tailights Ingame. Although it's only got 4 lights at the back, it's either a Bel Air or Biscayne. In this case, a 1958 Biscayne.
Fast, powerful and downright super-cool car! According to Clarkson, fast cars are slowly dying out, therefore this vintage beast could beat many of these modern-day plastic fantastics! (Shame then about the handling).
1960. That top is way too chopped.
The Camaro was a Mustang rival, Valiants were rip-offs of various Plymouths, Dodges and other Chryslers. BTW It may handle bad, but next to the Mustang, the Camaro is one of the coolest cars ever made in my opinion. Anyone who badmouths these beasts obviously knows nothing about cars.
georgie wrote boring car old rubbish and who ever want to drive i kind a person a jackass Shut up you bore, sure it may look boring in this game and might handle wrong, but in reality these cars are cooler than you'll ever be!
Agree with you there, Black Bart ;-)
More like a 1959 Cadillac with those large rear fins.
I always wanted to know what the red car was. I used to think it was a Ford Anglia 105E or even a Plymouth Barracuda, but I'd go with a Mazda 1200 now
This wasn't even in Parallel Lines! Makes me wish I own a PSP!
The cab design is remenicent to a '58 Chevy (E.G. Apache pickup), but the front resembles a 1956 3600. Those must be extra bull bars in front of the grill.
It's supposed be a rough re-incarnation of this: www.imcdb.org/vehicle_42838-Toyota-Truck-1984.html
I'd go with LTD or County Squire. Has there ever been a Diplomat Station Wagon? |
