Porsche? It looks too boxy and generic to me

Its a very deformed Boxster with Audi elements, also they created a design similar to the real car for Gangstar Miami.

+1 to the Cutlass
Also, in a pre-release screenshot it had different taillights, which were identical on the ones on the '69 Cutlass:

It looks like someone at R* really liked Oldsmobiles from that era.

Early design are not valid to define which car is, but the final design is. Like i explained, the tailights and front grille are more near to the Buick Skylark than a Oldsmobile, both vehicles on real life uses the same Chevrolet plataform.

Stallion already are based on the Oldsmobile, Clover doens't have the split seperation on the grill.

So, Clover have more similar elements to the Buick.

Nah, GT Racing 2 during 10 years got worse support, graphics, physics, features compared to Greedsphalt 8. Greedloft abandoned a lot of game franchises that is not related to Gangstar and Asphalt.

I played all 3 versions to get all the pics and my takeaways are:
The Arcade looked the best, the N64 version is the better of the two home console versions (of the 90s), both the N64 and PS1 versions have traffic obstacles that the Arcade version lacks, the N64 version has much more content to mess around with, the PS1 version has more bonus cars and has a unique track that both the N64 and Arcade version lacked.

Overall, fun sort of retro racer from a bygone era.

Unique track you mean Alcatraz Island?
