As far as I'm aware, it's not usually the location of the original concept's design studio. The 1994 Volkswagen Concept One was designed at VW's Simi Valley design studio in California. However, the production version of the New Beetle was designed by Peter Schreyer in 1997 at VW's HQ in Wolfsburg, Germany. This is also where production started before moving to Mexico in 1999. Unlike those Brazilian and Chinese VW's, the New Beetle is not exclusive to the American market. In fact, certain key models such as the New Beetle RSi were never available in America. | |

While that may be true, it's not uncommon in the car industry to utilise designers or design studios from another country. A good example is the Mazda MX-5 Miata, which was also designed by an American studio, but they are (rightly) listed as Japanese. | |

 Vector M12 Grand Theft Auto III (2001) | We should really be giving this the same treatment as Vice City's Infernus. In that game, a Countach was heavily modified to the point where it's almost unrecognisable, and yet we still list it as Countach because that's clearly what inspired it. This Infernus is also fairly unique-looking. It does not resemble a Vector in anything more than a superficial sense, yet we know for a fact that it was inspired by the Diablo and some details still point that way. I don't know why some people seem to be under the impression that insider or developer information is invalid when identifying a car on this site. I can think of several examples lately where that sort of thing has been very helpful to moderators.  Aston Martin V8 Vantage Automation - The Car Company Tycoon Game (2015) | That's interesting actually. I've got a model of a DBS next to my computer and I just held it up to the screen to see if it fit, and proportionally it's pretty close. However, one the topic of side skirts, the DBS has one, but it's not an exact match and still lacks any kind of shoulder line running along the doors. This is unlike the Vantage which is clearly the inspiration behind the detailing on this car. I guess it's a little bit of both? But is it more of an extended Vantage or a DB9 with Vantage parts? |
