This is the same car that appears as a taxi in another screen shot. The overall impression is of a 1949-1950 Mercury, although it has Oldsmobile taillights and the front clip looks like a 1949 Kaiser or Frazer.
It shares absolutely no resemblance to an Oldsmobile 442, but whatever.
What in the world is an Oldsmobile 44? This car is a little bit of an amalgam...it has a 1970 Buick Skylark front, the mid section from a mid '70s Camaro or Firebird, and IIRC the rear panel was from a 1968-1972 Pontiac Gran Prix.
440 mopar wrote How can you fools sit there and say this is a Chevelle. Enlighten me and tell me what on this car looks like a Chevelle? Because sadly, this site is overpopulated with kids who only pretend to know something about about cars. I can't count the number of times American muscle cars in games are just identified as "Dodge Charger," because a loose-lipped 14 year old from somewhere like Eastern Europe identifies it as a muscle car, yet Dodge Charger is the only muscle car he knows. The car is a 1970 Oldsmobile 442 W-30 with a slightly altered grille, the same as the Sabres in the previous GTA games. I don't see how anyone with eyes, especially not after 440 Mopar posted the various angles, can dispute that.
It's a 1958 Plymouth Belvedere. All Furies in 1958 were painted Buckskin Beige...the dark color seen here does not appear to be accurate to that. It also lacks the "Fury" script inside the side spear, near the back by the taillights.
Definitely. | ||
1972-1980 Dodge Power Wagon.
From what I can see, it looks like a 1967-1972 Ford F-100. The shape of the cab and the crease along the bodyside are particularly telling.
1970 Pontiac Trans Am would be my best guess.
Width of the headlight pods makes it a '58-'62 "quad light" model, but it doesn't have the deck shape of the '61 or '62, and the chrome strips on the trunk from the 58 are missing. Therefore, it's a 1959 or 1960 Chevrolet Corvette [C1]
Yeah, an early '80s front-wheel drive Continental.
The rear probably looks more like a 1972 Ford Torino than anything.
Strange vehicle to find in the U.S...but then again, the game WAS made in Japan.
I believe it's supposed to be a hearse. Front sheet metal could be either a Lincoln Town car or a Chrysler New Yorker from the mid to late '70s, but not much else.
1957 Chevrolet, impossible to tell trim level from this angle.
1964-1965 Ford Thunderbird, without a doubt. Note the bodyside creases and roofline.
Something of an amalgam. The taillights and rear hatch of from a Ford Pinto Country Squire (yes, there is such a thing), the grille appears to be from a 1953 Corvette, of all things, and the general shape of the body is consistent with a GM A-body station wagon from 1973-1977.
That picture does nothing but prove it's a LeBaron. Try to look at the entire car, instead of one minor element like the grille. Obviously a few tiny details will be changed, due to artistic license. It's a Chrysler LeBaron.
The grille is a minor detail, though, and one of the first things changed when "genericfying" a car. If it's a Chevrolet or GMC, where are the body side creases? Why do the doors, fenders, and headlights look practically identical to the Dodge? Why is it an extended cab, which Chevrolet did not offer from 1973-1987? I mean, it really looks a little like both vehicles to me, but I just see it and think "Dodge."
Practically nothing on this car resembles a 1959 Chevrolet. 1960 Chevrolet (which the previous GTA Voodoos were) is a bit closer, but even that is stretching it. Although it's not an exact match (the sides and rearend are totally different), the grille and roofline really remind me of a 1964 Rambler Classic or Ambassador:
1979 or 1980 Dodge D100 Stepside. We all got into this discussion on GTA forums, comparing the Chevrolet/GMC body to the Dodge body, and in the end concluded it's closer to the Dodge. The bed flares, the shape of the cab sides and front fenders, and the fact that it's an extended cab (which Chevrolet and GMC didn't offer in this generation, but Dodge did) all paint a pretty vivid image of a Dodge truck.
It's definitely some type of '70-'72 GM A-body, though it does strongly resemble a '73 or '74 Roadrunner or Sport Satellite in the headlights and grille. Given the fact that the headlights and grille don't look like any A-body (Buick Skylark/GS/GSX is closest, but still pretty far), I'm going to consider them a simple alteration. Also given the taillights look IDENTICAL to a 1970 Oldsmobile Cutlass/442, I'm going to consider that more than coincidence. It's pretty much got to be a 1970 Oldsmobile 442, just like previous Sabres in previous games.
It's obviously some type of exotic, older sports sedan. I believe it's an Iso Revolta Fidia:
Back end is a later model Maserati coupe, while the front looks more like a 30 year old Aston Martin V8 Vantage.
Considering the rest of the car looks absolutely NOTHING like a LeMans, I think it's more likely just a Charger with altered headlights. 1968 LeMans: 1969 Charger:
1967 Chevrolet Impala:
This car is modeled after the famous Swiss "Willy Hartmaan" 1937 Cadillac roadster, a car with a fascinating history which has unfortunately, over time, become a victim of unscrupulous collector's puffery. The history of the car, courtesy of the Classic Cadillac Database: www.car-nection.com/cadillacdatabase/Dbas_txt/16hrtm.htm Apart from the full-width bumper on the front and the color of the side stripe (the real one was orange), this is actually a great representation of what the original car looked like for the first 10 years or so. The car today resides in Nevada, and is solid red with lots of tracky added-on chrome, and a fake "F&F" badge on the dash added by someone who wanted to cash in by claiming that the car was built by famed Italian Coachbuilders Figoni & Falaschi (it wasn't).
1969 Dodge Charger | ||
Not even close to a Road Runner. It's definitely an E-body...It's actually nearly identical to a '70 Cuda, but it has '71 Challenger taillights and '71 'Cuda fender "gills."
Front clip is cribbed from an '80s Lincoln Town Car, but the rest of the car more closey resembles a Ford Fairmont. I have no idea where "Dodge Monaco" came from.
It's more GT40 than GT...it's definitely a vintage car, with multiple carburators and smooth lines.
ProwlerX wrote It looks like a Pontiac Fiero It really does. The wheel textures are even Pontiac "sport wheels" used on Fieros and Firebirds in the 1980s.
1970 Plymouth 'Cuda, not necessarily a Hemi. In fact, a 7.2 liter V8 would actually be a 440, which isn't a Hemi engine.
1970 Plymouth 'Cuda, not necessarily a a Hemi. Actually, 5.2 liter V8 would be a 318, which was normally only available in the Barracuda and Grand Coupe, not the 'Cuda.
1963 Pontiac Catalina | ||
plymubishi wrote with everything proving against it being a lesabre, it stays marked as one... Because nothing has "proved against" it being a LeSabre. All I see are posts of people naming random cars that it looks nothing like, such as LeBaron and Dodge 600.
Heavily customized 1973-1974 Nova "hatchback," definitely.
This is an American 1965 Ford Falcon, so origin should be "United States." A couple of these cars, with hopped up Winsor engines and fiberglass body panels, competed in LeMans in the mid 1960s.
There's one in Project Gotham Racing 4 as well.
Looks a lot like a Australian Falcon of the 1970s to me...Mad Max MPF blue and yellows, anyone?
It's a '33 or '34. Note the triangular grille shell.
1977 Chevrolet El Camino, without question.
More like a 1970, really, since it doesn't have the "boat tail."
Star Wars Fanatic wrote Wikipedia states this as a Dodge Charger, but did a convertible version even exist? Nope...never made one.
Holy smokes! From the thumbnail, it appears the Terminator is getting arrested by David Spade! The car is a generic Detroit muscle car, but it looks the most like a 1969-1972 Pontiac Grand Prix: Note that the game car has a Trans-Am style "kicktail" spoiler, which also brings to mind Pontiac. -- Last edit: 2008-02-07 19:56:51
Neon wrote Yes, this is a 4-door, LeSabre is only a coupè! Incorrect. Below is a 1987 LeSabre 4 door: Since the video game car has non-composite headlights, it's a 1986 LeSabre. I can't see how anyone with eyes can dispute that.
This car is so generic that it could be practically anything, though if it has to be a BMW it really looks more like a 3.0 CSL than a 2002.
The back half is a current generation Toyota Corolla: The front is a slightly older (1998-2002) Corolla: Therefore, as I said before, it's a Toyota Corolla.
It's really closer to a 1968 Corvette Stingray.
The front sort of resembles a '68 Olds, but the back end and optional stripes make it a dead ringer for a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle. |
