True, but when you realize the fact that the closest thing to that in a modern production car is a Mercedes-Benz SL63 AMG, how expensive and challenging that sort of engine swap would be, plus the fact the result, although it would have more torque, would have less horsepower than the original engine...and, with the two turbos...might weigh more...R* and WCC probably kept the stock engine because of that.

I think that main inspiration for it came from Intermeccanica Italia mycarquest.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/Italia.jpg (italian V8 sports car which was made for USA market during late 1960s and 70s), but headlights do resemble Alfa.

Yes the taillights look like a 2010 Camaro's taillights but the overall body is that of a Dodge Challenger. While it's not the clearest of shots, the overall shape of the rear seems to match the SLS AMG very well. images.wikia.com/gtawiki/images/b/b4/Schermafbeelding_2013-08-25_om_23.02.57.png ...and here's the nameplate, with a triple diamond logo that pushes the point further, as the Benefactor (GTA version of Mercedes-Benz) logo has a diamond in it.
