I get what you're saying, about setting new benchmarks. If you are interested in pushing limits of what is considered possible, it definitely is amazing what can be achieved. Admittedly, if I got to drive one of those high-performance supercars on a race track or the German autobahn, where they belong, I would probably start to appreciate them a bit.

That first part of sentences makes absolutely no sense if i should have gotten that reference i didnt
yes what you say sounds nice but thats not how car world works or brands think. Making a car that is the new benchmark is reason we got f40 and 959 and yellowbird and F1 literally some of most iconic retro cars were new stepping stone in tech. Thats progression for you all those cars were considered something else in their time . Ultimate goal is always blur lines of race and street. As making fun car like 2009 Evora doesnt show a companies best as almost every company that exist tries to break some milestone or benchmark but the fact their 3 eleven was faster than 918 spyder will give them publicity and credit and yes...bragging . and if it is the S your talking about ......it was gd car to maybe have fun but terrible car overall the new 400 or 410 sport prove evora can be good in design and spirit because S was great idea but abysmal for daily car and execution .

I think it's not really about it being easy to drive as it is about sacrificing enjoyment for performance figures on a piece of paper. Dual-clutch gearboxes are faster than manuals, absolutely. But many believe manuals to be more visceral, for example. High-performance cars are also said to be boring to drive on normal roads, not everyone lives near a track or the German autobahn.

They should really stop chasing some stupid performance figures on paper and make a car that is actually fun to drive without breaking the law. Make a mid-engined sports car, enough power to be quick yet still tame. A V6 with around 250 hp should be perfect, don't even think of coupling that to anything but a manual. No computers adjusting your inputs or anything. Just a steering wheel, three pedals, and a gear stick.

>Lotus Evora. Never mind, keep making your 300 mph Xboxes, everybody. What I'm asking for already exists. :p

I never got why there always that idea that if a car is full of tech its automatically boring and bland because its easier to drive. If the car doesnt want to kill you on every corner its a fail. Not to mention safety regulations that much less restrictive nowadays
This is how i look at the new cars. They can be very thrilling if you have the balls to go bonkers in them because yes lp610 might be easy to drive. Doesnt mean its easy to reach max potential. Thats just my view

For racecars and top-performance supercars, that sort of makes sense, maybe. I was talking more about regular, every-day cars. Having a car that's refusing to start because the air conditioning broke would be a bit displeasing.

As for supercars, the thought of operating what is essentially a PlayStation on wheels is not appealing to me at all. I could not care less about how fast it is or whether it has a Lamborghini badge. Even in a "bland" and "boring" car made for the Harold Slavinskis of the world I want to be the one that's driving it, not suggesting what it should do.

But meh, the car industry won't fix itself overnight, nor will people's attitudes. Even the MX-5, which I consider to be one of the only modern cars I'd own, is full of electronic crap that hardly anyone needs or uses. However, it has so many redeeming features that I can just ignore all of that. Not being a FWD "crossover"/"SUV" is a massive redeeming feature, to start off. :p

because it makes it more simple for them to test and control everything, not the driver they don't care about that, at the end of the day racecars are being developed and these computers help in keeping everything archived making the procedure of the cars performance is watched and enhancing its endurance and much more, but at the same time it can make a lot more complicated if it was defected but in the long run companies view them as faster way to help achieve next step

as it goes to road cars its really simple, brands want to sell and be approachable by all, Lamborghini Huracan alone has four computers that help steering making it better and to achieve optimum power to each wheel making faster than Lp700 and much easier to drive....tame you can say. cars like project one, Valkyrie I think need all this tech because they are trying to reach a new benchmark that regardless who driver is , cant acheive

Plus the fact that mankind as a whole is tech hungry and tech dependent were most of the people who have access to it, race to have the best its no secret. yes there are people that prefer simple....and its a great way for brands regardless cars or whatever to justify pricetags

I assume you mean appliances like TVs, computers, stoves etc.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not a technophobe who preaches about how technology and progress are evil. Quite the opposite, actually. I fully support both of them, if they are useful.

Things like electronic fuel injection, electronically controlled automatic gearboxes, ABS, etc. are great, they are objectively better and more efficient than their predecessors.

But why the hell do we need little computers, which are connected to each other, controlling everything? Why the hell do we need an iPad with a clunky system nailed to the dash, to have full connection to the brakes? Heck, around 90 % of the people who have those "infotainment systems" still use their iPhone to navigate and make calls. What's the point, what was wrong with exchangeable single- or double-din head units? Everything car buyers want from a radio is that it can play local radio stations and be able to connect to their smartphone to play music. Take this particular radio for example tinyurl.com/y9kgsbzh

It does everything I mentioned, doesn't look like a freaking spaceship (as do pretty much all other head units) and it costs less than 200 €. It also has a CD slot, so you can still listen to your old Avril Lavigne album you bought at Hot Topic back in 2003.

The following are all car components which (should in theory) require a module/computer: Engine (modern fuel injection and VVT/VVL), automatic transmission, ABS/ESP, Airbags and air conditioning. The only two of those that need to be connected to each other are the engine and automatic transmission.

For those who don't know, this is one of the rarest 911s ever built. Official records say 80 were made, though the true number is apparently 86.

Also, the car drops 180kg over a standard Turbo S of this generation. Hence the name, Leichtbau, which is German for 'light build'. Basically Germany's equivalent to Superleggera (Italian, known for being used by Lamborghini).
