Oh my god I just came!!! Shit, now I have to start playing that game, too or what.
Maserati Spyder. | ||
W210 | ||
Thats a horribly looking e46.
Too lowpoly to be playable, would be nice tho.
They even licensed it, cool.
Awesome, the 1996 Impala would be even better.
1992 because of the fender skirts and body-colored pillars.
Hopefully we will find this one ingame as well, not only in cutscenes.
I dont think they modeled the real cars, those models come pretty close to them tho. There are some differences but you can clearly tell what its based of. Im really asking myself at which point a game model uses a licensed design and when its just a knock off. I hope rockstar continues to keep their cars in other games like gta that close to the original.
Dodge Caliber-ish crossover Id say. The car on the billboard in the background is the same. For some reason, the game model is lower and doesnt have blacked out pillars.
An s-class with a dodge-like grill and c-pillar.
Kecske wrote Better picture: i.imgur.com/linIq.jpg Wheres that pic from?
Lol, those headlights look like someone used the smudge tool from photoshop there.
Yeah, what a common sight on San Fransisco streets, a Lancia Stratos rallye car!
Its a GST, there was no 2nd gen GT afaik.
Agreed, its a Mark II | ||
Well, with all 4 new wheels (I guess those are pretty detailed since they had to model them from scratch) they should be in the region of Forza1-polycounts. Which doesnt mean much since the carbody itself still is only a playstation2 model, maybe with some added polygons to the headlights. -- Last edit: 2010-11-21 17:21:24
Yeah, the new pics of some standart cars confirmed it, those are just GT4 (playstation2!) lowpolymodels with new 3D wheel models and higher res textures (they most probably had them still saved). Thats kinda unbelievable for a game which took like 5 years to create. Im not sure how many people are working in their art department as vehicle modelers but you should expect more from them. It takes like one working day max. per car to model those new rims and apply some new textures and materials. That means if 10 people were working on converting the models and textures of all 700 cars GT4 cars to GT5 standart vehicles it would take polyphony digital like 2 or 3 months which means they got 4 years to model the premium ones. Looking at Forza3 which has like 500 premium models made in half the time its not an impossible thing. Althought Turn10 outsourced pretty much every vehicle to different studios with hundrets of employees. Maybe PD should think about outsourcing as well (or just hire more vehicle artist which Im 10000% for!!)
Yeah, I noticed that, too. I thought all standart cars have atleast the same highpoly exterior meshes like all premium cars, just no interior, tuning, openable doors and so on. But looking at that picture above its clearly visible those body-lines are just textures which means standart cars are much less detailed than premium cars on the outside as well. Id like to know how much less.
And the original Need for Speed Hot Pursuit: www.igcd.net/vehicle.php?id=9184 This one is from NFS4, prettymuch identical, only with tranparent windows.
Yeah, its a great looking car, although you see its origin is in the late 80s. But whats more important here, this is clearly the proof that the developer cares and and has a passion for cars, and not only the newest exotics from Germany or Italy because, well, they are new and exotic, but for all cars like this one or the VW T1 (which noone else would put into a racing game) just to name 2 examples. Otherwise a forgotten concept car like this one would have never found its way into the game (read more about the story on GTs page). And thats what makes the difference between Polyphony Digital and Turn10 (who just wanna have a good selling game, without caring too much about the actual quality of its features or car list). This and hundrets of other little things and features make GT5 the much greater game, the much better experience for car enthusiasts.
J-2 wrote I hope Cadillacs will be playable...in Midnight Club, from 4 models, only the XLR was (and as DLC) Obviously, i expect Ferrari to appear as well (As DLC at least), i canīt see a Hot Pursuit without them. Yeah, it was weird to see Cadillacs and GMC Yukons as licensed vehicles among other unlicensed traffic cars while there was no way to play them in the game. Id be surprised if you can drive them in hot pursuit, it would be awesome tho.
Its a 2003ish Audi A4 and I dont know whats so hard to get it. The side profile is the same and as you noticed every playable car in the game is from a german manufacturer. Even the front looks Audi-like. www.chooseyouritem.com/autos/photos/1281000/1281298.2003.Audi.A4.jpg The Toledo has a different roofline and would actually be a kinda odd choice. -- Last edit: 2010-09-06 01:22:05
The game is getting better and better
You know the Crown Vic is one of the reasons why Id buy this game.
I wanna drive this one in the game -- Last edit: 2010-08-21 14:41:44
Wow, now thats cool! I knew they had S4s and Cayennes as traffic cars but an original Grand Cravan is quite epic. Seems like they even got licensed Chevy vans (the blue one in front of it). I like the gamemuch more now
One of Mitsubishi ugliest cars ever built by them, only the facelifted Outlander can compete with it. I really have no idea why they have to slap the Evo front on all their cars, they looked much better with their original ones... Thank god I havent seen alot of them since they started to sell them! -- Last edit: 2010-07-10 16:42:40
Agreed, no idea why the had to cut it but it was a worthy addition. Thank god the tsx joined the lineup, all acuras in this game were just rebadged hondas which are in the game as well.
I like it. | ||
Epic! | ||
Best pack so far, Im gonna download it asap! Love the SHO, I hope they gonna think about adding one of the older ones, too.
Its the same Impala as posted here already O_o
Its still an R/T, the normal Stealth looks a bit different, its even more obviouse at the rear.
Yeah, I know both cars but there was never an Allante with hardtop or a sedan version of it. Maybe some of the parts were inspired by the Allante, but thats it. Rockstar never converted a convertible to a sedan or vice versa and Im pretty sure they didnt do that in GTA IV just because the (pretty much generic looking) front and taillights have similarities
Toyota Corolla AE86 Coupe commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:New_stock_ae86_coupe.jpg with a different front (made by rockstar)
As J-2 said, a mix between the GS and ES, no Rover or Stratus <.< heres a picture of the front of the 2nd gen ES300: upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/8/80/LexusES300.jpg
Cadillac Seville of the 90s and early 2000s and NO Allante!
Surly another of rockstars cars that doesnt resemble anything anymore. I bet they never had in mind to model a Peugeot 406, Nissan Primera or Impreza LOL. Sometimes you cant tell what car it is, so it doesnt make any sense to find cars that dont have anything to do with the street scenes in the US or cars the carartists probably dont even know from just because theres one element that randomly has similarities with one of the car ingame. THINK before you post.
Its a Mazda 929 and should stay one. www.resimler.tv/data/media/311/mazda-929.jpg The headlights may be a bit off but thats normal for GTA cars...
1999 SHO | ||
Thats a 1999 Ford Taurus SHO, you can easily recognize it by the front bumpers. upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/e/e7/1996-1999_Ford_Taurus_SHO_front.jpg Last one ever built. But the new one comes soon so no problem with that. The 3rd gen Taurus Sedan is my favorite of all Taurus as well -- Last edit: 2009-06-15 01:49:38
The black window trim makes it to a 1991 to me. The 1991 and 1992 both had closed rear wheel wells, the only difference were the black/bodypainted pillars. Not sure about 1993, I know the open wheels make it look like one but the game is set in 1992 and changing the wheel wells was one way to change the model from a real 1991 caprice to a knockoff. Its always hard to decide the year if there are so many differences in the game model compared to the real cars. The same with the Premier, the LSPD and the SFPD cop car. And maybe something that could be interesting: theres still a model of the copcar with closed rear wheel wells in the cut scene game files. You cant find it ingame anymore but rockstar planned to use a more 1991 caprice like model before editing it to the current one.
I agree to Bonneville, even modeled one to replace the Sunrise. Its long hood, short trunk and weird placed rear wheel wells makes it a 1991 Bonneville to me. Its a typical american car, it fits into the time of San Andreas so id be very suprised if it isnt one. Heres a picture of it: upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/4/47/90SSE.jpg You cant expect it to be identical but some design elements are way closer to the sunrise than those of a Intrigue or Saab 9000 <.<
Always thought its a Civic, its the typical well known ricer car, just like the Jester (Supra), the Elegy (Skyline), Sultan (Impreza), Uranus (Talon or Eclipse). It would fit there, not sure about the Nissan Pulsar, it looks more or less the same but the chance that rockstar has chosen this one instead of the Civic is pretty small. And its no Polo, it wouldnt fit into the game at all.
So I finally registered here to clear some stuff up. Its no Oldsmobile 88 at all, how the hell did you get that idea? Its a simple first gen Infiniti Q45, heres a picture of the front: upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/6/6f/1st-Infiniti-Q45.jpg and here of the rear: img178.imageshack.us/i/picture008sj9.jpg/ I mean, its obviouse O_o |
