crown vic guy br photo_librarymode_comment 2011-09-18 02:28 | I know that this is not the right place to post this, but i have bad news : "The last Crown Victoria rolled off the assembly line at 12:30pm on September 15, 2011.[27] It is white and destined for export to Saudi Arabia. The last car's VIN number reads 2FABP7CW8CX104292. With the end of production of the full-size rear wheel drive body-on-frame platform for the Crown Victoria and Lincoln Town Car, Ford is promoting the Ford Taurus and Lincoln MKS flagships for consumers. Ford is also promoting the Transit Connect Taxicab to replace the Crown Victoria for urban taxi cab usage.[28] Some taxi operators have expressed concerns about replacing the roomy Crown Victoria with smaller, more compact vehicles, due to a "bumpier, more cramped ride" and "knee-bumping back seats and flimsier frames". For police pursuit use, Ford is promoting the Ford Taurus Police Interceptor and the Ford Explorer interceptor to replace the Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor" From Wikipedia More info and photos from the last Crown Vic here jalopnik.com/5840709/the-death-of-the-ford-crown-victoria-is-a-sad-day-for-america jalopnik.com/5840637/the-last-ford-crown-victoria-ever-built www.freep.com/article/20110824/BUSINESS0102/108240369/End-an-era-Ford-Crown-Victoria-retiring www.autoblog.com/2011/09/16/last-ford-crown-victoria-build-documented-by-st-thomas-assembly/ www.crownvic.net/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=2372034&page=1 www.youtube.com/watch?v=hpsuDRLjpGs&feature=related |

2011-04-24 19:35 | Sandie wrote I saw one in a multistorey car park in Edinburgh a few years back. Similar to the one in the main pic in terms of colour and spec. Here nobody wants to drive cars that are so large and uneconomical which is why Ford have never tried to sell the CV here though a few have been imported many of which have been turned into police car replicas. The same thing is behind successive failed attempts to sell Cadillacs (though they tried the SAAB based BLS which failed more because of a poorer image than BMW, Audi etc), Hummers, American Chevrolets and the Ford Explorer. I see. That does make a lot of sense. I remember reading that Corvettes had to be sold in Cadillac dealers because of how 'cheap' the Chevrolets were in Europe. I believe they started selling them in Chevrolet dealers in Europe after the Camaro and Cruze, right? I bet Cadillac will do MUCH better in Europe with the SRX and the upcoming new products. It'll be like Buick in China all over again. With how the new Explorer is, maybe Ford will start selling them in Europe after they realize how well the new Jeep Grand Cherokee will do there. |

2011-04-24 18:31 | stryder237 wrote I have never ever seen a crown vic in england. i would think that they might have sold them here because it sold well in america and the sell the F-150s and other USA made fords in england Well, you see, over in the UK, they have even stricter emissions and safety laws in place compared to the US (I believe New York and California have the most un-forgiving emissions laws in the US). The vehicles Ford sells are different than in the US, although President and CEO, Alan Mulally's 'One Ford' plan has brought the Fiesta to America, and has unified the Focus into one single model. Also, the C-Max is coming to America for the 2012 model year. I'm also not aware of any Crown Victorias in Europe, but I think they have them in the UAE (United Arab Emirates), though. They also had them in Asia for a while. -- Last edit: 2011-04-24 18:32:58 |
