The vehicle gets "unlocked" and the player is free to drive it after that point. Cars that only appear in certain circumstances like this one, or mission-specific vehicles like the RC Baron or SWAT that don't respawn after they appear, shouldn't count in my book.

Silnev photo_librarymode_comment 2024-03-09 09:14 | You know, looking at this, I don't think it's meant to be a 3000GT. I do think it's meant to be a MR2. Or rather one that has a Veilside body kit equipped. Also in looking at old custom SW20s, I found pics of some with Supra style tail lights like the Super GT has, possibly explaining why they went with that look for the rear. -- Last edit: 2024-03-09 09:14:28

2023-05-15 01:37 | True. Similar dilemma goes to foreign cars, where it's usually a model year newer than the original. One example would be the Audi A4, which initially launched in 1994, went on sale in Europe as a '95 model year, and in that year it launched in North America as a 1996. That's how it is for games based in North America or US-specification models of non-American brands. And, as I said before, production years are not model years.
Mathias98 photo_librarymode_comment 2023-05-15 00:31 | MacaStanier22 wrote Because those were probably mistakes. They are not necessarily mistakes. In the United States, cars use model years (which is not the actual production year), and usually they go on sale during the previous year. Random example: 1968 Pontiac GTO in a 1967 movie: imcdb.org/vehicle_1780466-Pontiac-GTO-24237-1968.html So the Mesa and the Stretch could exist during the events of GTA Vice City. On the the hand, in Vice City Stories they are indeed anachronistic. -- Last edit: 2023-05-15 00:33:28
