Trans American racing series ( shortened as Trans Am ) started in America in the 1960s as a racing series for smaller muscle cars, like the Mustang, the Camaro Z28 , AMC Javelin and Pontiac Firebird, Plymouth Barracuda, later in 1970, the Dodge Challenger T/A and the PLymouth AAR`Cuda would also join the show. The engines were capped at 5 liters ( or 305 cubic inches ) If you wonder where the Pontiac Firebird Trans am got it`s name from ?
