I would say its an 2000 Lamborghini diablo coatl concept. It looks almost identical to this, except some details are changened.

Too modified to be this concept version.

But the only difference between Vice City Infernus and this one is that despite the changes, the final VC model still similar to a Countach, while in GTA III, the model changed so much that it lost almost all similarities to Diablo

Then again, it doesn't look much like a Vector, the rear is completely different aside for the spoiler

We should really be giving this the same treatment as Vice City's Infernus. In that game, a Countach was heavily modified to the point where it's almost unrecognisable, and yet we still list it as Countach because that's clearly what inspired it.

This Infernus is also fairly unique-looking. It does not resemble a Vector in anything more than a superficial sense, yet we know for a fact that it was inspired by the Diablo and some details still point that way.

I don't know why some people seem to be under the impression that insider or developer information is invalid when identifying a car on this site. I can think of several examples lately where that sort of thing has been very helpful to moderators. If anything, it's the most reliable source of information out there.

You make me remember a video that i watch about Vice City in the beginning of project, the game should have licensed cars but was abandoned to keep again in unlicensed cars. Infernus in one of beta Vice City promo images appear with a design very similar to 1985 Countach.

We don't take that sort of thing into account, it's about how it's presented in the game not in the files.

It's a Vector, let it go dude.

Don't care about old name in the files and beta models anymore, the rear still from Diablo more than Vector.

Superficial things like the rear design doesn't matter. There are alot of entries on the site where the car has a distinct shape in the front or rear but the rest of the car looks like a different vehicle.

In any case the overall car doesn't look like a Diablo. In the beta it might of but that is beta content and most likely was a concept that never made it into the final game. That sort of thing is irrelevant.

It may be, but only the sides along with the front of the car are customized and unrecognizable parts, the rear still has the visible silhouette of Diablo, as Mathias mentioned, in the game's scripts it is still called "Diablo". Even with the changes made from the alpha version to the final version, there are still more features of Diablo than Vector.

I have a theory about R* messing up some names in the newer games on purpose, I already wrote it on some GTA page and it said that they do it, because they know that IGCD exists and they want to confuse us :p

Well the reason why they changed it is because of a potential lawsuit.

But they left in the game the Honda wheels and some real life businesses, such as Joe's Pizza

But back on topic, I changed my mind, the overall shape is quite similar to the Vector.
And sometimes even Rockstar isn't sure about the real life counterparts of the cars, for example the Ingot is called Swedish, but mostly it's based on a Stagea. And in some cases, the manufacturer names are messed up: Karin Kuruma instead of Maibatsu or Karin Sultan instead of Emperor.

This it the last time I post on the Infernus page, but...
-the script calls it Diablo
-the name is a reference to the Diablo
-at least 50% of the car is based in the Diablo (rear, sides and window shape)
-the Diablo is a well-known sports car, while the Vector isn't so famous
-only 14 production model Vector M12s were built, so it's highly unlikely to be found on a city street
-with the exception of GTA San Andreas, it was based on Lambo in every GTA game
So, the developers certainly wanted the Infernus to be based on a Lamborghini Diablo.

Well the reason why they changed it is because of a potential lawsuit. So they changed the name and design. By Coincidence, it looks round like a Vector M12, with very little Diablo resemblance (like the doors).

Around 75% of modern Spanish is derived from Latin - Wikipedia

I believe French, Portuguese, Italian and English are also largely based on Latin. Your point?

And the name of the Infernus is obviously a reference to the Diablo:
Diablo=devil (Spanish)
Inferno=hell (Latin)

You're oversimplifying things. Round and rounded are two different things, just like Spanish and Latin are different languages.

You should probably know these comparison pictures are very subjective. It all depends on which lines you decide to draw.
The Infernus is very round, like the Vector. The Diablo is very square.

Here's the comparison of the Vector and the Diablo:

The rear is quite generic but the shape is much closer to the Diablo than the Vector.
The Vector has different shaped door.
The windows shape is definitely from the Diablo.
The Vector has air intakes on the sides, while the Diablo and the Infernus has not.
The cockpit is positioned further forward on the Vector.
So, as I said earlier, only the front bumper, the headlights and the spoiler is from the Vector, almost everything else is from the Diablo.

I think this should be listed as a Lamborghini Diablo.
The Vector M12 has completely different taillights, and the shape of the windows are clearly taken from the Lambo, and most importantly, it's called Diablo in the script: gtamodding.ru/wiki/Kenji#kenji2

It's definitely an M12, but with some Lamborghini styling cues. I like how the developer's gave it 3-spoke wheels, which is actually one of the distinguishing features of a real M12.

Wikipedia describes as a cross between a Vector M12 and a Lamborghini Diablo. The latin word Infernus is the where the world Inferno comes from, which can be used as another word for Hell. Diablo is the Spanish word for Devil and Spanish originates from Latin.
