Wiki states Ferrari GTO(Often referred as Ferrari 288 GTO)hence the Ferrari GTO is the real official name(Also only GTO was on the car itself,not 288 GTO)

nope. it's always 288 GTO. besides, there's another prominent "gto" in ferrari's stable, the 250 GTO.
