C1-Circuit (1996) | Silnev photo_librarymode_comment 2023-08-24 00:34 | Entry complete. Something interesting about this game was that it was apparently released in-complete and that it was the only game made by the developer Invex. It certainly feels incomplete, there are tuning options that are just blank options, you can't drive backwards, the AI is braindead, you can change the colours of the cars (except the S14) in an undocumented feature that not even the manual mentions (press L2 + up/down at the car selection) and when you beat the game you don't get anything, it just ends with you having to reset the PS1 to play again. But the wildest thing is that despite it's low budget appearance this game was actually anything but. It has 4 brand sponsors in the game, plus a really in depth tuning system alongside a pretty faithful recreation of the C1 Loop road. The reason for this was because this game was developed in partnership with a Japanese car magazine from the time called 'Carboy'. They had articles talking about this game and praising it's gameplay. The really surprising thing was that it seems there was plans for a secret Carboy themed car in the game, modeled after a Toyota Starlet. I suspect this was probably going to be the reward car, in the final game it goes unused (if you try to access it the game crashes): Carboy article talking about the game and mentioning the secret car: -- Last edit: 2023-08-24 00:51:16 |

Looks like a Supra to me, even the stats point to it. | |
