Gran Turismo 2 (1999) | Fisico97982020-08-12 13:07 | @Solarriors My emulator: ePSXe 2.0.5
As Video Plugin I use Pete's PSX OpenGL Driver 1.77
I maxed every setting I could.
I know you said the graphic textures could look better.
But honestly I personally think this looks good as was texture quallity depends. It is a very old ps1 game.
I know there Plugins that make these textures extra sharp and all, but honestly this is a game from 1999.
I think it should also look
It looks 1000x times better with my settings on PS1 emulator than on the original PlayStation hardware.
And Petes' Video Plugin were always the ones i used for my PlayStation 1 games on emulator.
I also think it should be a little balanced, of course it shouldn't look like potato quality, of course the images of the vehicles should be clearly recognizable and identifiable.
And my pictures are far from poor quality potatoes.
With Pete's OpenGL 1.77 this is the best quality you can get out of this video plug-in. (
If you had written which plug-in used, I could have made the settings. With Pete's plug-ins, for example, you can't change anything about anti-aliasing.
And I never had any problems with Pete's plug-in, which I cannot say about other video plug-ins.
I always had bad bugs with other video-plugins and the than games didn't even start.
I am always happy to receive suggestions for improving my pictures. But then you should be a little more specific about what a special plugin you used to make the textures look great. Each plugin works differently and does not have the same setting options. |
Gran Turismo 2 (1999) | Solarriors2020-08-12 01:33 | @Fisico : What emulator are you using ?
Can you try one with Asset Upscaling ? |

Quit griping. His shots are fine and in-line with the other ones IMO.

Gran Turismo 2 (1999) | Solarriors2020-08-07 11:47 | Why would you crop German text but not French or English one? |
Gran Turismo 2 (1999) | Solarriors2020-08-07 04:34 | You can increase the internal resolution, disable texture smoothing, and enable AntiAliasing in the emulator. I've posted pictures on the discord back then that show that even the stallion logo on the mustangs is absolutely distinguishable. That was back in 2014. |
Gran Turismo 2 (1999) | Fisico97982020-08-06 23:02 | OK, i have started to make pics of a few cars with race modifications.
The first two cars i have added are the Nissan Primera BTCC '98 and Subaru Impreza 555 from 1995 ().
If there is anything wrong with these pics, or the cars at self please tell me.
Otherwise, I will add some race modified cars in the next days or weeks when I have time. |
Gran Turismo 2 (1999) | Solarriors2020-08-06 20:59 | If someone's to update the pictures please do so with the AI upscaling enabled and DLSS, it looks so good |
Gran Turismo 2 (1999) | JFK2020-08-06 20:43 | Yeah but then after much discussion such cars were allowed on #DRIVE, so for the sake of consistency I am also for adding these racing variants. |
Gran Turismo 2 (1999) | Antti-san2020-08-06 19:45 | This has been discussed before, IIRC the rationale for not including the RM cars before was that they are not separate vehicles, but acquired via tuning.
Personally, I wouldn't mind to see them listed.

Gran Turismo 2 (1999) | Solarriors2020-08-06 17:05 | I'm looking at the wiki and they list all the vehicles. Yet IGCD, which has the best visualization of the game content with this multi gallery feels incomplete to me to not list everything as the big encyclopedia I see it is. |

Unfortunately, it is not very likely. For me, the site is for the base game's cars in the final product. As for this game, the RM mods need to be listed.
So if allowed and nobody is against this I could add some of the race modifictions of some cars.
Especially cars like the Audi A4, Honda Accord or Nissan Primera which, if modified as a racing car, can be tuned to the BTCC touring cars '98.
(TOCA 2 greetings )
Unfortunately there is no Volvo S40 (or rather Volvo in general).
This was the only official BTCC car that is missing in the game.
All others were included.
Interestingly, you could even tune the Audi S4 as a racing car and afterwards it looked exactly like the Audi A4 from BTCC '98 season. Instead of yellow rear-view mirrors (like in BTCC '97 Audi had), he had gray ones in the game.
It was practically the 1998 livery of the Audi A4 on the S4 in Gran Turismo 2.
While the Audi A4 with racing modifications in game with the yellow rear-view mirrors is based on the 1997 BTCC race car.
There also many, many cars that can be modfield to the rallye cars (like Subaru Impreza from '94-'97, Mitsubishi Lancer EVO III and IV, Toyota Celica GT4 ST185 and ST205 in many variations, Peugeot 306 Maxi, Peugeot 206 with livery from 306 Kit car, Lancia Delta Integrale, Renault Maxi Megane, Ford Racing Puma (the one from Colin McRae Rally 2.0) etc.)
If nobody is against these race modifications of cars, then in the next few days I'll be busy adding a couple of these vehicles.
But before I start work, it would have to be clearly decided whether the tuned racing modifications are allowed as listed vehicles. I personally think they should definitely be listed. They are a (big) (important) part of the game.
To see if the car is a race modfication,
we can write in the 'How to obtain the car box' it is e.g. " a racing modification of the car XYZ."
So you can see faster that it is a car racing modification.
btw: It would not be bad if we added a new star with a new color, for cars that are specially tuned it represents a completely different car. Especially with Gran Turismo it would make sense. |
Gran Turismo 2 (1999) | Solarriors2020-08-06 04:47 | We should maybe still list all vehicles, like hidden/cut/beta cars with the purple stars... |
