ItsaUserName wrote ... No, not really. It does look a lot like the DP, but that car didn't exist until 2003. I don't understand what you mean by "DP"... The Porsche 862 already existed in the 1980's... another option was Nissan R90CK, but I think the top rear half of this game car is more Porsche than Nissan.

@ItsaUserName @Black Bart Thannks for replying to my comment! ItsaUserName, it's good to know that I'm not the only one who gets frustrated at how long it often takes for unknown cars to be filed, or changes to be made to game cars with a wrong identity. Black Bart, I understand that it's not always easy for a moderator to keep up with the incredible amount of vehicles on the site. About myself: I can say that I don't jump to conclusions easily... I search the internet most particularly when trying to identify an "unknown" game car or to find the true identity of a game car that I feel is filed under a wrong name. I always try to add links to photos in my comments, so everyone can verify my findings. When I'm not sure, I add a "?" and when I discover an error in one of my comments, I delete it straightaway and post a new comment with fresh information.
This note is a not about this vehicle, but a GENERAL COMMENT......... I wonder why we (car maniac "members" of IGCD) put so much effort in trying to identify game vehicles. I truly enjoy searching - it makes me learn a lot about car history - but vehicles remain filed as "unknown" for far too long, way beyond the moment at which their identity becomes clear. This is serious criticism to the IGCD moderators... I think they should put more effort in trying to maintain a proper game cars database.

I have found another great photo of this car, but the link gets damaged when I post a comment. Just click commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Main_Page and search for 1932 Ford 5-window Coupe Hot Rod and click the second photo... This car even has a round container at the front (which makes it look like a St. Bernard rescue dog) and a car number on the side... I wouldn't be surprised if the gamemakers had actually seen this car before they created this "Speedster".

Please, IGCD moderators, get this car properly filed... it has 4 doors, so it is DEFINITELY NOT A COUPE!!! This car makes no sense... the gamemakers messed up the front: headlights and grill of the Ion are on the same level, that would make this car an Ion, the grill of the Accent is lower than the headlights, unlike this car, but this car features a grill with horizontal and vertical ribs like the Accent has... ... can anyone follow...???
I still think this is a 2005 Saturn Ion. The rear of this car could be Saturn Ion or Hyundai Accent (they have much similarity), but the front of this car is undeniably Saturn Ion. civic_eg6_94 wrote No! If you look at it carefully, you can see that this is a boxier version of a 1991 Crown Vic. Even the front didn't match an 80's Diplomat. Read one of my previous comments to see why it is DEFINITELY NOT a Ford Crown Victoris. All cars in Road Rash 64 are unplayable and (maybe) therefore very stylistic. You have to own this game to be able to judge the cars. This police car has huge rectangular taillights and low outward front signal lights, so it's either a 1980 Dodge Diplomat or a 1982 Plymouth Gran Fury. I think the complexity of this front styling makes it most likely a 1980 Dodge Diplomat. upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/7/77/1977Diplomat.jpg www.imcdb.org/vehicle_451701-Plymouth-Gran-Fury-1982.html

OOps, I thought the link was 1 photo, but I just discovered that it's a 28 picture brochure. I've checked al the 66 models, and their names make no sense to me... I always thought a sedan is always 4 doors, but apparently not... ... and the (2-door) Club Sedan has a sloping backline, while the Club Coupe has a normal roof-backlight-trunk line... I find that very strange! So it turns out this car is a Club Sedan indeed.
It's clear to see that this car has 2 windows and 1 door on each side... the Club Sedan has 3 windows and 2 doors on each side. And the sloping roof-backlight-trunk line is typical coupe.
1946 Oldsmobile 66 Club >>>>>>> COUPE <<<<<<< I was wrong about 1942 Cadillac... this is a 1946 Oldsmobile 66 indeed... the swage line on the front wheel arch leaves no doubt about it... but it's a 2-door, so it's a Club Coupe, not a Club Sedan.

civic_eg6_94 wrote It's the same. The [EF] Civic is still in production until 1992. So no need to change anything. Usually, when identifying and filing a car, we mention the year in which a new generation of a model was introduced, unless radical cosmetic changes were executed throughout the period. So for me it makes sense to file this one as the 1987 Honda Civic. -- Last edit: 2013-12-14 14:12:33 |
