Although this game has dirt effects on the car and paint can be scrapped off after an accident, but the damage physics is not really impressive :(

When I said the game goes from 1930 to 1935, I saying the years when you are playing the missions and not counting all the cutscenes. During the cutscenes setting in 1938 (except the beginning), you don't see any cars. It's fine if you don't count the changing cars as unlockable. ;)

First, Mafia was from 1930 to 1938. Second, this is from 1945 to 1955 or so. You don't need to learn how to unlock these in Mafia II. Although time change obvouisly brings new cars, I don't think that should be called unlockeable. But, if it is unlockable, every single car should be unlockable...

The car is maybe unlockable because you might get it when you are playing your way through the game. Like in the first Mafia, it goes from 1930 to 1935. If you played and beat the game, you can see the cars change through the years. So maybe the people who created the first Mafia are going to do some of the things for Mafia II. But who knows, the game is not even out yet.
