But, when you look at the Prowler, it's a modern interpretation of the classic American hot rod, so it's got credentials.

Plus, the Prowler is actually rarer than the M6 (about 14,000 to 15,000 or so M6s, coupe and convertible, compared to 11,702 Prowlers).

Yeah, Carbon Motors is saying somewhere between $40,000-60,000 for an E7, I think. It'll probably be a niche vehicle of the police interceptor industry.

About the Durango: It's 5.7L Hemi would be an excellent pursuit vehicle against those larger trucks and SUVs. It would almost be like the Supercharged Rhinos from Most Wanted, which is where I got the idea from, initially.

@CC - Oh yeah, the E7 too. Although I doubt it will be much of a success.. I'm guess it might cost a lot more, with all that tech, and I just can't see them even in the same league of success as the good ol' Crown Vic.. It is pretty awesome though.. And yeah, that's a nice idea on the Durango, but again, it's got competition from the Tahoe Police Package, and the Explorer-based Police Interceptor Utility..

For me, it's sort of a three way battle of the sedans..

@Mudflap: Yeah, it will definitely be interesting to see how it will play out. It'll be 4 police cars competing against each other, with the Caprice and Charger you mentioned, along with the Taurus and the E7 as well.

The Charger and Caprice are RWD (the new Charger doesn't have AWD available, right?), the Taurus is FWD/AWD. I keep forgetting what the Carbon E7 is, though...

A Hemi-powered Durango police unit would be awesome, too (depending on which side of the law you're on, of course...).

But sadly, Ford are discontinuing it in favor of the new Taurus-based Police Interceptor. It will be the end of a true legend, but will be very interesting to see what happens, with the Chevy Caprice PPV and Dodge Charger Pursuit entering the market.. Perhaps too early to tell yet, but I don't think the Police Interceptor will ever fill it's predecessor's boots.. Interestingly, the Crown Vic Interceptor's chassis code (P71) will be passed to the Police Interceptor. (Changing the 2010 Crown Vic's to P7A..)

However Crown Vic's will probably still be seen patrolling for a good few years yet. Police forces are currently stockpiling them.

For more info on the new 2013 Police Interceptor (both Sedan and Utility) visit here - www.ford.com/fordpoliceinterceptor/#
