Hey...these two are actually mid-engines, not rear engined.

Also WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON HERE

Giorgietto Giugiaro designed both DMC-12 and M1, and also the Lotus Esprit, just in case someone will wonder about that one too.

I didn't know that. Guess that makes them pretty similar. Still not a German Delorean. :p

I love the DeLorean, it's a very characteristic car but the M1 has NOTHING to do with it

The M1 was based off the BMW Turbo concept which was revealed in 1972. John Delorean founded DMC in 1975, 3 years later.

Any questions?

It says on TheCarSite.com that the M1is based on the DeLorean so it's obviously true, besides the fact that EVEYONE KNEW IT WAS BASED OFF OF THE DELOREAN,so your aurgument is invalid.

It doesn't take a genius to see the similarities between these wedge-shaped early-80's sports cars, but it takes a special kind of person to start an argument from this...

BMW based their own car off their own car? That doesn't make any sense.

It's your opinion. Not the truth. There is no real proof BMW based this off the M1.

Considering the M1's developpement started 10 years before the DMC-12 was released, it doesn't make any sense.

You know,I supported you back in the days of "If life were a box of chocolates" homepage. The M1 and the DeLorean are the same thing, but from different countries. I'm just trying to speak the truth.

Bullshit. BMW built the M1 based off of the DeLorean

What do you mean they're in Australia? The M1 also performs way better. It accelerates almost twice as fast as the DMC-12, has a way higher top speed, and was simply designed with racing in mind. The DMC-12 is just a low-end sports car.

If anything, the DMC-12 is a slower, American M1.

This car has pretty much nothing to do with the Delorean. They're both rear engined, rear wheel drive cars but that's it. Plus the M1 is older.
