Hmm... what I meant is that Chinese car industry uses near identical car designs for their own purposes, showing a lack of imagination.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chinese_automobile_industry#Copying_claims_controversy
But when they use this imagination, the products can either be dodgy looking, like the Roewe range, to the downright stupid.
www.imcdb.org/vehicle_476317-Pioneer-XF150ZK-4.html
What I meant by "get away with it" is that if a car company says one of our cars looks like a Chinese car, the government would come in and say no it doesn't.

I know, but its chinese and all... with no taste in design, although familiar with the original, just like the car on this page :/

Well, the only reason it's Roewe, and not Rover is because SAIC wasn't able to acquire the Rover name when they acquired MG Rover from BMW. BMW had sold the Rover name to Ford, who in turn sold it to it's current (and somewhat reasonable) owner, Tata Motors, owner of Jaguar-Land Rover.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roewe

So, basically, they would have used the Rover name, if they had been allowed to acquire it. Not their fault.

I hate and always hated the Roewe for being clear imitation of the Rover :(

But because they're Chinese, they're able to get away with it.

Looks like a 2006.5-2010 Kia Optima from the rear.

You know what...now that I think of it...I think it looks a good bit like the new Ford Focus sedan...

To be honest, it is a fairly generic sedan when you compare it to a lot of modern cars currently avaiable in real life - at a glance it even looks like it's loosely based on a Passat B6. However, the overall styling is undeniably similar to that of the Roewe 550, this one actually looks better than the real thing IMO.

Edit: Never mind, maybe with this being a hatch, should LRV be added to the name?
