2014-01-02 23:02 | That's because they changed it due to the copyright rules regarding the car. Kit car companies had made loads of money off of the GT40 name from the 70's through to the 2000's, and Ford didn't bother with a lawsuit so they referred to the production model as a GT starting from 2005 onwards. In GT Concept it is referred to as a GT40 like the actual concept car it is based on, you can even see it in this screenshot. To comply with the lawsuit though, the car was renamed the "GT Concept" in GT4 and beginning from GT6 the door stripe now reads "FORD". Original Concept: This image was hard to find as a lot of the images have since been photoshopped to read "Ford GT" on the door. |
