2021-03-23 05:29 | Auto-Friki a écrit Which came first: The Porsche 356 uses the VW 4-cylinder boxer engine from the Beetle, or did Porsche design a 4-cylinder boxer engine for the Beetle? It will seem confusing, but it is a question that I have not known for a long time which of the two was the first, since both the 356 and the Beetle, and even the T1, share the same parts apart from the engine: Headlights, bumpers, etc. A quick look at Wikipedia showed me that the original Beetle first came out in 1938, while the first Porsche 356 prototype "had it's maiden voyage" in 1948. "Most of the mechanicals (including engine and suspension) were derived from the Volkswagen Beetle". So the Beetle came first. Also, something I didn't know: The Beetle was made by Ferdinand Porsche SR, the 356 prototype was made by Ferdinand Porsche JR. -- Last edit: 2021-03-23 05:31:53 |
