Jensen Interceptor The Getaway (2002) | andrew nicholson wrote Ah the first British conventional Car to have 4 wheel drive that wasn't made for Farming. It's largely forgotten for that the Audi Quattro was remembered as the "First" car to popularize four wheel drive regular cars. but the Quattro would never had existed without this car. More people should know about this. Note: The place I got this information was in Autocar magazine in the most important historical car test section towards the end. Actually, The Interceptor was built on an FR platform. The Jensen FF was the 4WD twin of the Interceptor. Both cars look exactly alike although the FF ended production in 1971 while the Interceptor ended production in 1976. But it's an easy mistake.

Lotus M250 The Getaway (2002) | @Sandie: Definitely agree, as if that was to happen, that could mean we'd see Nissan/Renault engines in future Lotus models. I could see them using the Nissan Juke's 1.6L turbocharged engine in an Elise/Elan.
Lotus M250 The Getaway (2002) | If it goes wrong for Lotus I can easily see Tony Fernandes (who owns Caterham and Team Lotus F1) being the one who bails them out.
Lotus M250 The Getaway (2002) | Antti-san wrote Couldn't agree more - Lotus should stick to what they do best; lightweight sports cars for enthusiasts. Unfortunately Bahar seems to think it's a good idea to go toe to toe with Ferrari... Caterham still exist, so the Lotus spirit still alive

Lotus M250 The Getaway (2002) | Sandie wrote The new models will fail. I'm pretty certain of that. I agee with you, we need more Lotus Seven and less Lotus Eterne jalopnik.com/5693756/lotus-wants-to-build-fatter-cars
Lotus M250 The Getaway (2002) | The new models will fail. I'm pretty certain of that. The only question is whether they will actually get the cars launched. They don't have the funding and in this financial climate it will be difficult for them. They have already gone cap in hand to the UK government who have told them to do one. If you look at it the new cars will be priced in the kind of range where Porsches and Aston Martins are. I love Lotuses but there is no way I'd make the decision to choose one over a Aston at that kind of price. Look at the Evora. It's a lovely car and I would love to have one but sadly the people who can spend £50-60K on a sportscar don't feel that way. The sales figures haven't lived up to expectations as people would rather drive a Cayman or some such. To consider going up a level from that would just not work. If they came to ask me for money I'd look at the business case and tell them, Dragon's Den style 'I'm out'. That said, it is just my opinion and I could be wrong as I'm the kind of harebrained traditionalist who is unhappy they aren't still building the Seven.
Lotus M250 The Getaway (2002) | @J-2: Yeah, it really is, when you think about it. I'm definitely going to miss these things when they're gone, but I will willingly welcome the new models with open arms (figuratively, of course). Some people don't realize that the new Lotus models (Elan, Elise, Elite and Esprit) may be larger, but still have similar power-to-weight ratios to the current models, surely something Colin Chapman would be proud of today, if he was still with us.
Lotus M250 The Getaway (2002) | Quite ironic that the Elise now looks just like that.
