You make a compelling case, monsieur Bogon. And I agree with you.

Definitely a 1954 Chevrolet Bel Air/210: the only similitary with a 53 Buick is the set of 4 holes

Why is there American Cars in Istanbul?? :??: :/

When the japanese car industry was not as big as it is now, american cars were spread all over the planet. If you watch some old films from the 1960s, you´ll see many american cars outside the USA:
Not only in Turkey, but also in France, Germany, Great Britain, Holland, Switzerland, Norway, Sweden, Italy, Japan, Australia...
There were even some factories in Europe: Some Plymouth-cars were built in Switzerland, Dodge had a factory near Amsterdam I think.

Well that is a coupe and the taxi is a sedan, but I wasn't 100% they were the same.

I believe it is about halfway through the game. Shouldn't be too challenging though - the missions are quite easy overall, mainly thanks to the hopeless AI.

You have to unlock the final city for any unfamiliar cars.
