Hot Pursuit in 2010, Burnout Crash in 2011 (not a 100% true Burnout game, but it's Crash mode, so it still counts), Most Wanted in 2012. This could only mean that we might see another new Burnout next year, and Criterion isn't developing 2 games at the same time, for quality's sake. Sort of how Rockstar refuses to make GTA an annual thing, also for the sake of game quality. Kinda makes sense, doesn't it? |

You know why The Run and Hot Pursuit 2010 didn't have a quick race mode and only had a career mode?? They wanted to make the games shorter so you finish them in a few weeks and don't have anything to do with them afterwards (except beating some silly time in autolog) and that way you will want to buy the next NFS as soon as possible. If you've played the older NFS games, you know what I mean. That's why those were timeless classics: loads of replayability. |

There's hardly any racing game with such feature nowadays, remembering almost every developer have shifted their focus towards multiplayer-oriented modes instead. Especially in this case, expect something like Speedlog/whatever it named. |

It then finished first in the GT2 class for the 2004 Spa 24 hours, which was 6th overall. It finished 2nd in the 2004 Masters of Formula 3 Zandvoort, the same race where numerous F1 cars were on the field. It won in it's category at the 2010 12 Hours of Spa, and again at the 2010 25 Hours of Spa. So if that ain't legendary, I don't know what is. |

No original and creative ideas: old title and free-roam version of Hot Pursuit 2010 with Burnout Paradise elements. 3. Perhaps, there is no tuning like in original Most Wanted. Tuning wasn't shown in trailer, and if tuning will take place in the game, I guess it will be stock paintjob and performance settings only. Most Wanted without great tuning isn't Most Wanted. 4. DLC and pre-orders are signs for greedy manufacturer and low-quality product. Can you imagine a 35 piece puzzle, but with 34 pieces only and the last one is only for extra money? 5. No Johanna "Josie" Maran, she is lovely  .6. Battlefield 3-like HUD is awful. 7. No ability to use doughnuts, gas stations and huge billboards against cops. 8. No concrete and clear plot. I know I'm gonna sound like a jerk but I'm really hoping for critics to destroy this game, and for EA and Criterion to go bankrupt. They are making a multiplayer oriented game simply because it's easier (less coding, AI doesn't need to be great in a multiplayer game), it's aimed at braindead kids that only care about graphics, and it has less replay value, so like I said, that way they can make a "new" NFS every year and make sure it sells. Because you know, it says "Need for Speed" on the title. They have established the series, now they just cash in on the name. But all this is really scaring me, I think this is just the direction videogames are heading now, I'm gonna have to deal with it (and lock myself up playing old games). And they were great games, maybe "not good need for speeds", if you think they had nothing to do with "Need for Speed" just look at the box art of the games: "need for speed" in small letters and "UNDERGROUND" in big letters. But anyway I hope they don't make an Underground 3 because they are going to make it suck. The only way they can make good games is if they take more than only one year to make them and include as many features as they can (cockpit view, replays, quick race, etc.), instead of making short games with just some shitty campaign, multiplayer and autolog. Even Gran Turismo and Forza has body tuning so WTF? It extends the replay value greatly. To me the game had excellent graphics but very little realism and damage effects seemed a bit downgraded from MC3 ( the cars could be slightly deformed in mc3 instead of just loosing the bumpers and getting scratched paint,Customization declined a little from MC3,(Mc3 had atleast six+ bumper options for most cars, MCLA usually just had 4,(although it could possibly be counterbalance with the player being able to modify exotics, (Present in NFS since the original Most Wanted I believe), and motorcycles in mcla. I think if they used the same the same vehicle selection from MC3 + the additional licenced vehicles in LA (Ford,shelby,aston martin,Mazda,Buick)combined with the awesome vinyl editor from MCLA, (One of the best i've seen in a game, Mostly cuz it gives cordinates allowing vinyl alignment to be nearly perfect, something every NFS game so far has lacked), they could of made a much better game. I don't think i've yet seen a racing game with a thorough car list, it always lacks something. |

2012-08-17 02:44 | Ya i know, the cellphone thing was a pain in the &*^ , and soundtrack was too modern, i meen cmon, you don't have to only use songs written within 3 years of the games release. The handling though, is pretty much the same as the rest of the Midnight club console series since MC2, except for the special abilities added in MC3, and the new EMP ability in MCLA, however i was kind of annoyed at first since all the abilitys now require "clean driving" to charge them up, i miss the purposeful drifting in MC3 to charge up "Roar". I would not be dissapointed however, if they removed 2 Wheel Driving from the game as it has very little practical use (other then to look at the bottom of the car). You start in fast cars and find other fast cars around the city. For each car, you complete races to unlock upgrades, and have to this for every car, so lots of content (depending on how much you can unlock and how many cars their are) The driving is very arcadey. It looks easy, but it is the start of the game. The music is very mainstream, which is good for me, but not every one will like it. The map seems small, but similar to burnout paradise, it has lots of shortcuts and off-road bits. You can change parts and cars from the easy drive menu. It is all fast-paced and constant action, but may not to every ones tastes. Oh, the cutscenes are mental. Watch the vid for more info, mute the commentary if you want. |

Crappy cars list, boring gameplay, lack of customization option, maps are not big enough, and the only way to get cars are finding it through the city, not buying them. If you ever played the game, there are many elements from Burnout paradise (billboards, smash gates, repair shops) are on this game. Plus, when you hit traffic cars or walls, you got the annoying "crashed" sign like Burnout, making it really annoying when you race or in pursuit. I played this game for three weeks (until I got the Agera R), then I lost my desire and not play that game again. :| |

carcrasher88 2012-11-28 05:18 | Honestly, I think this is a great game. The map is certainly larger than Criterion's previous NFS game, Hot Pursuit. The car selection, while small, has a good variety of vehicles. The handling is no longer 'drift-to-turn' like HP, although it might be required going into turns at quite high speeds, depending on the vehicle. Still, it's more realistic (not to simulator standards, but for an arcade racer, it's pretty good). The environment is well put together, and fun to drive around in. Implementing various parts from Burnout Paradise seems to work decently. Smashing security gates can result in finding ways to billboards and/or jackspots. Billboards add a piece of replay value, with the whole idea of competing to see who can fly through the sign the furthest. Graphics live up to typical Criterion spec, but more importantly, the gameplay is well managed, and is a lot of fun. True, Burnout Paradise is an even better game, and this game doesn't hold a candle to the original Most Wanted. But, for a reboot of the Most Wanted IP, it's well executed, and although slightly lacking in certain aspects, as a whole game, it's pretty darn good. My score: A Solid 8/10. It's quite sad really how people are shitting all over this game due to it's "lack of customization" and "Burnout inspired" elements. While I can agree there could've been more customization such as a Rainbow system paint (Where you can choose any colour), and maybe even a vinyl system similar to that of Forza Motorsport's, It's honestly not a huge pain for me. Not to mention the performance upgrades that you can get, can actually do wonders to your cars, especially if you manage to unlock the Pro upgrades to those modifications. And for Burnout inspired? The only thing I can really think of it being so is the Jumps and Billboards and Security Fences and MAYBE the drifting and crashes, but other than that, there's too many things I find that can't justify it as a worthy spiritual successor to Paradise. It contains alot of elements to me as also seen in previous Need for Speed titles. The Online is also quite fun, being able to try to outlast and outrun everyone else and prove why you deserve to be "Most Wanted" by everyone. Disappointed though by the lack of Police cars online I will admit though. Honestly, I think this is FAR OUT an improvement compared to The Run, but it's not perfect. However, if you forget about all of the other things that fans whine about, this game in the core, is definitely a good game as compared to last year's installment. Oh and by the way, the first DLC pack has been announced, which will consist of 5 Hypercars to add to the list. These include: Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse Pagani Zonda R Hennessey Venom GT Lamborghini Aventador J and the McLaren F1 LM! Very psyched for the F1 LM. |

Those games were products of their own time within automotive culture and wouldn't fit in with modern car culture, unless it took place in an open world based on Japan. Personally, I'd MUCH rather see a modern day High Stakes over a modern day Underground. The formula of gameplay in High Stakes is something I'd love to see adapted to a modern day NFS title. |

2014-12-08 05:04 | High Stakes was one of the very few games at the time that introduced me into the Sport/Supercar culture, at that time I wasn't that interested until I was blown away by the intro sequence of the game. Also indirectly introduced me to the aspects of "street racing" or more or less escaping from the cops before Fast and Furious came around. I'd love to see a modern day version of Porsche Unleashed with every model starting from the 356 1100 to the Macan or 918 Spyder, the "Evolution" mode, which more or less was like a "story" mode, but divided into 3 eras, set in an open world like TDU and Horizon and having the ability to "tune" whichever Porsche you had for the races and work through the "years", obtaining Porsche's in their appropriate era, and maybe have a treasure hunt like the obtainable wrecks from TDU2, and Barn Find cars from Horizon in finding prototype models that haven't made it past the development phase. And iirc, the PlayStation version had a rudimentary "free roam" during the Evolution mode where you could take whichever Porsche you had at the time for a drive. -- Last edit: 2014-12-08 05:05:08 |

2014-12-09 01:46 | I liked Hot Pursuit 2010, not only had it brought back the supercars and pursuits like the old one had done, but it gave some gadgets, which was more or less stereotypically found on Bond's cars to keep the SCPD from taking the better advantage. Underground 1 could've had more features put into it, the so called "Free Roam" had several tracks with roads that possibly led to a larger map, however a few feet past those "barriers" sends you respawning back onto the track. I'm the type of guy that likes to take cars for a lengthy drive to get the feel of how it handles. Overall, the customization can keep you occupied for a while, but in the long run, it everything else gets rather boring. Underground 2 made up for that by having an open world and such, but there were still several things that were sub par in quality. Like what CC8 had said a couple posts back, Underground 1 and 2 thrived at the peak of their car culture at the time, but it's rare for cars like these to be NOT called ricers. Guess that also explains why the Fast and Furious series seemed to gradually phase away from the tuner scene after Tokyo Drift. |

The cars are gorgeous and some are rare such as Porsche 911 Turbo or Marussia B2 but but but... the handling is still horrible and the optimization for PC is totally inexistent (the framerate seems to be caped on PC and when you drive some areas, you could suffer some serious FPS drop). |
