The vehicle clearly has a GMC logo on the rear. To me it looks like a late 90s or early 00s GMC Safari or Savana that has been heavily modified. The roof line has been lowered over the rear, and the lower portion of the front bumper and grill have been removed. Given the in-game name, and the fact that the real life Master Rally was held in Russia, I wouldn't be surprised if this is based on a real vehicle that competed, a Russian-modified GMC van. EDIT: There is a website address on the back that reads www.club4x4.ru. This is a real Russian off-road magazine and club, the website is still active. I tried searching Yandex for more information but haven't been able to find anything. -- Last edit: 2024-02-06 15:39:04
While the game refers to this as a Plymouth Road Runner Superbird, it uses the exact same in-game model as the Charger Daytona, and you can clearly see based on the hood scoops, front grille, and side vents that this is the Charger and not the Superbird. Purely a limitation of the time though, as other racing sims from the 90's tended to use the same car model to represent multiple manufacturers. Still I thought it was worth pointing out. -- Last edit: 2023-09-27 17:34:38
Based on the front grille I would have to disagree with the notion that it's a GAZ, looks to me like a 2nd gen Plymouth Valiant. i.imgur.com/SWJA1jV.jpg Really the only difference is the rear end, and that could just be a case of artistic license. A 60's Plymouth to me makes the most sense as the Rio map also contains a mid 60's Ford Thunderbird.
