Could be a stylised/genericised version of a NABI 60 BRT www.chaffeeyiu.com/labus/mta-954-728.jpg, but threre's only some vague similarities there.
Could be an old 1960's Ford Econoline. -- Last edit: 2011-03-17 02:04:50
Reminds me of a Dodge Ram Van.
Either that or a Ford Aerostar
When you see this from behind it looks more like a Fiat Cinquento, which itself is basically identical to a Lancia Y10.
subzero wrote When playing the game, I thought that it is a Renault Espace :P So did I. The overall shape has more in common with an Espace, seems like the front end is taken from a Scenic, though.
Iveco Daily | ||
Not unlockable, it's available from the beginning (very first car I drove in fact).
I would say either a VW Polo Classic, or a SEAT Córdoba. Possibly a Toyota Corolla, but it bears more resemblance to the former 2 cars.
Looks more like a Ford Orion to me, just with slightly altered indicators. It also looks a lot like a Mk.II Vauxhall Cavalier (or its Opel equivilent). Nevertheless, I'd go for Ford.
bugravarol wrote Who destroyed this car!! >:( A nuclear bomb and several years of exposure to the elements. Not sure why the tires are missing though.
I fairly sure that this is the same Leyland 95 XF that appears in several other games, including SimCity 4 and Emergency: Fighters For Life. The big bull-bars on the front are a dead giveaway.
This is unplayable as far as I am aware. When you walk up to the door the "drive" icon appears onscreen, but atempting the enter the car results in a short narrative dialogue where Alan mentions that Barry (the guy who rented the car, and has locked himself in the nearby cabin) has the keys and that there is no real reson to use it anyway.
Unless I'm mistaken, this is apparently the only car you can drive in the game. The rest of playable vehicles are either SUVs, pick-ups or 4x4s. At least it's a nice car though.
I was hoping you'd be able to drive this when I first encountered it, but unfortuantely you can't.
Technically this should have been playable; at one point in the game you have to take an overly long trek trough the woods to get to one of these trucks. Alan Wake gets into it and drives it (cutscene is initiated upon entering the truck), but in the very next scene he's driving the 1985 Silverado for some reason.
There's no denying it's Russian. It seems to combine the front of an older Volga with the rear end of a VAZ-2101 (a.k.a. Lada). Considering it's driven by the Russian gang, the name "popular saloon" kind of gives it away as well - I'm sure these cars were pretty common in Russia in the past.
I used to think this was a 1st gen Peugeot 307, but there's some definate Golf Mk.IV in there (and Golf seems more likely based on the game's setting).
subzero wrote Perhaps with the placement of playable vehicles, this would used up more disc space and ps3 have hardware restrictions, since those playable vehicles are more detailed and the quality of the texture is higher. Higher details used up more spaces and hardware resources... Plus background vehicles is not very important (Just a guess) That's exactly why they don't use playable cars as background props. If they did, you could easily have 40-50 different high detailed models onscreen at once, which would obviously have a devastating effect on how smoothly the game runs. The same applies to racing games featureing road traffic (like Need for Speed or Burnout) - you'll notice that the traffic cars are always less datiled than the playable ones. Also, in most cases, the average player barely pays the background cars any notice. I've always thought games like GTA should adopt this "system" to make parking lots appear busier. That said though, the cars featured in GT 1 could've been re-used as parked cars for GT 5, as they were basically just 3D models with textures on them.
Where can this be found? I played through the entire game and only seen it during the introduction/car chase sequence. Love the rust patches - seems slightly more detailed than the other cars... EDIT: It would make more sense to list it as a Festiva, cosidering this game takes place in New York City, but yes, the Festiva is basically just a slightly altered Mazda 121/Kia Pride. -- Last edit: 2010-11-07 19:29:13
CA_NES wrote Where is the taxi version? I never saw it, do you have the 360 version? Oddly enough, I found the taxi version in the exact same place as the "civilian" version which is listed on this site (in a parking space outside a small building, near the slaughter house). Yes, I have the 360 version - is yours the PS3 version? Now that I think about it, there's also a modified version of it which can be found during a side mission where you have to kill some small-time gang members.
It's a Westward Go-4 Interceptor.
Honda CRX del Sol? | ||
Definately a Crown Vic | ||
A taxi version also appears later in the game.
I've seen the front of this car during a later section of the game, and it most closely resembles a 2006 Buick Lucerne.
Is this for the black car? If so, it's not a Caprice - just look at those rear lights! This is actually just a "normal" version of the police car, which is listed as a 2006 Ford Crown Victoria.
This, like almost every other vehicle in this chase sequence, can be seen parked in the streets in later parts of the game (so better screens are possible). Anyway, having played the game, I know this truck is cleary based on a Mack MR.
Yes, Mk.VIII shouldn't be in the name at all -- that's what the "[E110]" means (more or less).
Taurus Wagon | ||
Looks nothing like a GM TDH 5303. Should be listed as "Unknown for now.

This is what a TDH series 'New Look' actually looks like. Other than being a bus, this has nothing in common with a 'New Look' at all. Doesn't really resemble a GM Classic either... I suggest changing this to "unknown" until a more appropriate real-life bus basis can be determined.
Looks like a BMW, not sure which model though.
Those bull-bars aren't stock, but it really shouldn't matter too much.
J-2 wrote I thought it could be this: www.imcdb.org/vehicle_252119-Made-for-Movie-Dodge.html But it´s not that close. If you search "Divco ice cream van" in Google Images, and van similar to the one that J-2 linked to comes up as a result, so it may be a Divco then. -- Last edit: 2010-10-02 18:50:39
Looks more like a Toyota Century to be honest.
Okay, I've managed to get a screencap of the Purple Sentra in the opening cutscene for The Sims: Compare it to the car I linked to in my other comment -- there's no denying that it's the same car (the only difference being the green colour and the police badge). -- Last edit: 2010-09-19 00:35:59
I think this is just an isometric sprite version of the Ford F-1 seen in the opening cuscene (which is also listed).

The Isuzu Elf is a small truck, this car is clearly a minivan... I does appear to have headlights from an Elf, but the body is from something else.
Why is this named? | ||
I still have my Pinto that I started off with. I use it as my "pizza delivery" car. I think I may paint some rust patches on it to give it that authentic 'delivery car' look.
Lol, I have one of these in the game; I painted it so that it looks like the "Pussy Wagon" from Kill Bill - I even put the actual lettering on the tailgate :P.
Looks pretty similar to an Isuzu NPR, a.k.a. Isuzu Elf.
The closest thing I could find was this en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:BeijingBus-X10209.jpg It's a Chinese bus based on the Flxible Metro, but it's only similar in regards to its length and it's windows along the side. A rear shot of the bus may be a bit more helpful for identifying it. -- Last edit: 2010-08-28 14:31:56
Chevrolet G-20, same as the other vans in this game.
The other, largely identical, vans are listed as a Chevrolet G-20. |
