1997-98. 1999+ got a body colored b-pillar.
Maybe the front face is Pontiac 6000, but this is a compact. The whole body is a 2-door 1989-94 Dodge Shadow, even the taillights are identical. i0.wp.com/www.curbsideclassic.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/11/CC-111-063-800.jpg I'd relist it as that. -- Last edit: 2020-10-14 05:29:06
Main shape is a 1987-89 Chevrolet/Geo Spectrum i1.wp.com/www.curbsideclassic.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/CC-375-050.jpg Front faschia is a 1985-86 Chevrolet Sprint (Geo didn't exist in this body style) i2.cdn.turner.com/money/galleries/2010/autos/1006/gallery.top_mpg_since_1984/images/2_1986_chevy_sprint2.jpg With 1989-91 Sprint/Metro taillights cs.copart.com/v1/AUTH_svc.pdoc00001/PIX133/00b75a2e-9142-459b-849f-1a4409597bdd.JPG No idea why people are calling this a Metro, lol. -- Last edit: 2020-10-14 05:16:45
This is heavily based on an '86-'87 Buick Skylark. far less influence from the '85-'86 Olds Cutlass Ciera. The front faschia is almost a carbon copy. The overall platform proportions and shaping is much softer according to the late-80s GM design philosophy in the N-body Skylark compared to the sharper and more dainty forms that dominate the older A-body Cutlass Ciera. The main influence the Ciera has is on the dash design and taillamp layout. (the c-pillar/rear windows and rear portion are even more similar to the N-body Olds Calais coupe) Everything else screams Skylark. It's a very good N-body stand-in. This is closer to a 1980-1982. Bit of trivia; For 1979 the front end was updated with this appearance, but the rear was left until 1980. The rear lights are larger and don't have chrome trim like the 1976-1979 models did. The unpainted steel bumpers were also kept until 1983.
1995-1998 | ||
Textures are from a 1998 Toyota Sienna, body shape resembles a 1996 Mazda MPV. Textures in these cases are the only verifiable photo-based thing to go by so it should be marked as such. -- Last edit: 2018-06-24 10:35:36
1995-97 Town Car, but has 1990-92 taillight strip.
1994 | ||
1993 Toyota Truck XtraCab SR5. Also terrible job on the smoothing groups for the truck bed, haha. -- Last edit: 2018-06-18 12:07:57

schaefft a écrit Or maybe the intend was to create more variety in the vehicle lineup by adding badge-engineered/facelifted variations of certain models that would otherwise not be in the game? ^ What Schaefft said This isn't "being lazy", it's adding surprising depth of believability to something fictional. Real automakers do this almost all the time. I'm honestly very impressed by these models, they were clearly made by someone who actually studies auto design instead of "I'm not allowed to copy a real car so I made a box with wheels because I looked at a photo of a car once".
1988 Dodge Dakota | ||
1994 Pontiac Sunbird, I can source where it was licensed from for the cutscenes. The rear obviously shortened afterwards as already noted: Adrigaaas90 a écrit This car is supposed to be the same than the seen in CGI cutscenes: www.igcd.net/vehicle.php?id=101353 I'd reduce these two to a single entry.
Looks closer to a 1982-85 Ford Escort, spare the C-pillar.
Honestly I don't see why it was ever questioned as a Chevette, this is one of the most accurate renditions I've seen in a game. 1983+ model because of newer integrated/painted bumpers.
Gamer a écrit Wikipedia says the first Silverados were sold in 1998 as 99er models. Yup, 1999 was the last year of the C/K series (which was renamed "Silverado Classic") when the new Silverado platform was launched. The front faschia is a 1990-1993 Chevrolet C/K series with the chrome bar edited out from the grille to look more like a GMC. But you can tell from the door handles and back end that most of the textures are from the newer 1999-2003 Silverado/Sierra. It's kind of a mishmash of trucks, but I'd call it a 1990 Chevrolet C/K series, as that's where most of the body shape comes from.
1999 GMC Sierra in the front, but with a Chevrolet Silverado styled tailgate.
Here are some hopefully better shots:

1988 Toyota Land Cruiser.
1990 Honda Accord. Original model is misnamed too, funnily enough: www.planit3d.com/source/meshes_files/autos/hondacivic.html
1994 Chevrolet S-10. I even know where the 3D models used in this intro are from: www.planit3d.com/source/meshes_files/autos/blazer.html -- Last edit: 2017-03-16 06:12:39
This is actually a 1988 Ford Escort with mis-colored taillights. I recognize the 3D models used for the traffic in this CG intro. www.3dcadbrowser.com/download.aspx?3dmodel=3623
Closer to a 1988-1990 Cavalier, actually. '91-'94 had a different front faschia design with taller headlights slanted rearwards and no prominent grille.
Going by the grille texture, mirrors and headlights, this is a 1980-81, the headlights should be sloped back and the grille should be upright though: www.kitfoster.com/images/2011-3-9_SkylarkLFWeb-Large.jpg The front was redesigned to be more square for 1982-85, along with a new headlight arrangement and plastic mirrors: momentcar.com/images/buick-skylark-1982-4.jpg -- Last edit: 2017-02-10 22:13:16
Piaggio Ape TM P703 www.mondoape.com/cpg1414/albums/userpics/10001/apetm_ribaltabile.JPG The bed style indicates it's a tipper model. Likely any year from 1984-1993, but I ran across a 1990 with a stripe on the front similar to this. ipocars.com/imgs/a/i/g/a/q/piaggio__ape_tm_p703_200_220_1990_1_lgw.jpg -- Last edit: 2016-05-14 01:54:16
Here are caps of the original model from the arcade version of the game, not sure if they should be listed as a seperate car:
Here's the back view capped from the Arcade version, playable: (The license plate was censored in the console port.) Technically it can be listed as "unlockable" too, as you need to enter a button combo to access it. -- Last edit: 2015-02-05 17:08:13 |
