The difference there is that a 2-door sedan is mainly just a 4-door sedan minus two doors, where a coupe has more distinguishing design features to separate it from a sedan, if it's even based on one in the first place. The basic difference in a 2 and 4 door sedan 1st gen Jetta is that the 2 door has a full second row window like the 4 door, but that area is solid sheetmetal instead of a door, or simply put: visually, it looks exactly like the 4-door sedan, just without the rear door handles.
