Tuppence870 photo_librarymode_comment 2024-04-22 12:30 | Winterland is the only location (so far) that appears in both World Of Trucks games, and it features parked cars from both games. New for ATS were this Moskvitch, the Mk2 Golf & Citroen 2CV, while Euro Truck Simulator 2 got to see a bunch of classic American vehicles for the first time. -- Last edit: 2024-04-22 12:32:37
Vxctec photo_librarymode_comment 2024-04-22 03:31 | Winterland does not have an official location in the game. The map appears in both ATS and ETS2, so it's technically impossible to say it could be the US or Europe.

2024-04-14 20:45 | @Antti-san Thanks for the tip. I'll check that out when I got time, and if you want, can I chime in on a particularly bad flaw with ATS and my take on that particular issue? If so, here it goes. First of all, I do love ATS. I do love how SCS recreates each state with their character and personality, and I applaud it with each new one in development (hence why I wishlist each state when they're made on Steam). After all, damn, the Czechs have done an admirable job with ETS2 as well, and I play it extensively, despite the fact that said game has a map expansion they won't release due to... well you get the picture. But while I do love ATS in plenty of ways, it's not without its flaws. Thing is, it's not performance, or even the world itself (and that is a gimme considering parts of the world map are old), but my biggest criticism with the game is one particular asset, one particular car model that seriously reeks of forbidden fruit. A minivan (which is not really a minivan but rather a MPV with swing-out doors) that is not available in the U.S. and you cannot legally drive in the country due to the 25-year rule. The answer, of course, is the dreadful Ford S-Max model: www.igcd.net/vehicle.php?id=147725 This model was added in the 1.3 update that featured Arizona, and it was clearly not thought out well. The S-Max was not sold in the U.S. and while this did make it to ETS2 (which is better since the S-Max is available there), this asset is still occupying American roads in ATS. No one asked for the S-Max to be in ATS. No one, yet somebody decided to put it in the game, by themselves, and almost 8 years later, the car is still in the game, made worse that there's now a scenery prop of this horrible vehicle. I've been crusading to get rid of this model for quite some time, and I'm sure someone else did years ago. Yet despite my endless nitpicking, it's still not removed. No effort has been made to remove it and it's still widespread. I've provided constructive criticism about why the S-Max needed to go and have an actual minivan sold in the U.S. in its place and so far, nothing's been done (not that it would matter anyway). Look, I know SCS aren't car guys and trust us - they don't have the knowledge of most American vehicles (understandable as they are from the Czech Republic and that isn't a fault in itself). That's why I, TruCrime, stepped in and wanted to bring in change to new AI vehicles. I'd love to see more variety in the vehicle department, and the new RVs that they're coming to ATS soon should satisfy that appetite. Sadly, it takes a lot more than that. Why else do you think I've been throwing down vehicle suggestions every week on Steam? Because I'd like to educate the devs on new vehicles they've never known (as I've said before SCS aren't car buffs and they know little about American traffic types in a trucking sim) and to implement them to the game, and knowledge is good. By providing a detailed description of each car, including brand new models, it'll help add in variety, and it's always a pleasant surprise to bring new AI vehicles for fun (albeit they have to resemble the real car, not some deformity). Of course there are limits to that variety (no limited-production supercars or hypercars due to low production numbers) that I have to understand. Of course, I do understand that it does take time. Modeling a large truck to drive for the player takes months, if not a year, because they have to not only get approval from the manufacturer, but they have to utilize a lot of factors, such as physics, sound, interior modeling, and tons of reference photos. As for the simple 3D moving asset like a car, it can take about a week or two to model it (just browse around photos and stuff like that) and weeks to process it into the game world. That's just my $0.02. Of course that is just my opinion but I'm sure there are others. |

2024-04-13 04:53 | Antti-san wrote Just wondering, what DLC/state is this from? Oh, about that? I should've replied beforehand, but here goes. In Lincoln, Nebraska, there's a Kawasaki railcar plant there and they manufacture subway EMUs specifically for cities like New York City. The model shown here in the WIP photo is pretty much the R134 shown here, and is a new prefab in ATS. For the analogue, it's known as Outrider, and will join the RV industry as new industries in the Nebraska DLC (That's the upcoming map expansion if that's what you are asking about Antti-san) Hope this clears up anything, and I will replace the placeholders when the DLC drops. Course, it will be busy for me because California is heavily reworked starting in 1.50. You can play the experimental beta right now. blog.scssoft.com/2024/04/nebraska-industry.html

Antti-san photo_librarymode_comment 2024-04-11 06:40 | On the latest news article talking about the upcoming 1.50 update, there is also a bit about the upcoming updated International LT. The LoneStar will also get an interior refresh. "The International LT will receive revamped interior and exterior options, and the LoneStar will get a refreshed interior. The International LT's exterior sees significant enhancements with new features, customizable options, and adjustments to existing parts, including the addition of the S13 model with its Integrated Powertrain. Additional accessories such as new chassis fairing extenders, bumper and grille options, FlowBelow fairings, blindspot detectors, and a shorter day cab chassis have been introduced. The interiors of both trucks have also undergone a complete overhaul with new models, updated textures, customizable interior cabinets, and functioning cabin physics, fulfilling a highly requested feature. Stay tuned for more updates as we plan to have a separate blog on this topic in the future." -- Last edit: 2024-04-11 06:41:04

2024-01-05 01:18 | Dear admins, why was my original entry of this locomotive removed with no fault of my own? I actually did this entry when the expansion was released and someone just blindly took my entry away for no reason. Why? There was no reason for a second entry just to override my old one.... all it needed was an edit and it would be done, but no... they chose to delete my perfectly fine photo with both views, and this worse version got added in its place. Case in point why this really shows how low this site has gotten.

2023-12-27 19:13 | Antti-san wrote Huh, you learn something new everyday. I guess my image of American vans is a bit outdated then. Thanks for the link! Well, it wasn't just Ford that started this whole European thing. Chrysler also did so too, with the Dodge Sprinter, and eventually, the Ram Promaster. Speaking of, it is true Ford did sell 114,000 vans here in the year. Unfortunately, ATS has the S-Max, which is an awful vehicle that was added for no reason, and I have protested its appearance. There were no actual models of the S-Max sold in the U.S. because it is an ILLEGAL import, and does not meet the 25-year law. Yes, I know these are Czech devs but they have no idea that there isn't a single minivan at all in ATS. Despite my constant criticism regarding the Ford S-Max, the model is still occupying the virtual-sized America, and made worse by a scenery prop of the same model plaguing the game. They have not gotten around the know-how of how American traffic diversity is. Yes, the research trips done year-round alleviate this somewhat, but they still barely added any new AI cars, and ones that they did add this year were all SUVs. Why? I even went up and threw up a banned sticker of that car not too long ago in the hopes that SCS will delete the car for good. It has not been done.
