Tom's and TRD aren't really the same though. Tom's is like an unofficial tuner for Toyotas, while TRD is the official tuner. Kinda like how Mine's is the unofficial tuner for Skylines and Nismo is.

I think the Castrol Supra from this game is a better nod to Toyota Racing Development or TOM'S.

Maybe because it smells like a bunch of turds (or TRDs)?

So shouldn't this be a 320i then? Was there even an E36 320i? (Not really a big expert on BMW model names, they change them all the time)
EDIT: There was, but only sold in Europe, Indonesia, and Canada. Model years are 1991-1998 in Europe, and 1993-1995 in Indonesia and Canada. Where is this game set? That will determine the model year.

Looks to me more like a Nissan Crew, used as japanese police car from 1995 until 2009.
The opponent was the well-known Crown Comfort, made by Toyota. The place of the game is Japan, so I suppose that the police-car is a japanese car.

Exactly, a lot of developers were supposed to think of close to the real car's model name otherwise there will be problem with licensing. Not Engrish stuff at al...
