It's a 1970-1971 Ford Torino GT Hardtop. Well front part of car is little bit different, but other parts are very similar

How can this be a 1970 Ford Torino when the game takes place in 1968?

It is a 1968 or 1969 Pontiac GTO. The car is also RWD in game.

Does it take some influence from the 1969 Shelby Mustang? (at least with headlights exposed?)

Looking at the front end, the grille appears to be a hybrid of the Torino GT's hidden headlights and the Torino Cobra's chrome strip across the grille.

Images for comparison...

It's not FWD, for sure. Seeing the way it slides (it is the "Drifter" after all) around corners and the way the backs spin, its a RWD beast. The only the car this is FWD actually is the Samson Storm I think, which is mostly 66-67' Riviera, but maybe has the FWD coming from the similar Toronado.

I dunno, this looks barely like a Mercury Cougar of any year. Reminds me more of a Olds Tornado than a Cougar.

I didn't say it was FWD. I was wondering if it was FWD, since it was based off of a Tornado. I have a feeling your in dispair becuase it's possibly FWD. But before you start yelling at me, please READ what I said. You saw FWD, and you didn't like it.

If it's FWD, it's a Tornado for sure.

yes, but the cutlass has a unqiue rounded quarter window and fender flares that the pontiacs, chevys and buicks dont, but the car in question has. just sayin'

The GTO and Cutlass share a platform and many body parts. Their profiles are very similar:

Also, the interior (if you believe the trailer, although it is pre-rendered) is like a 66-67 GTO.

It has the taillights/rear of a first gen Camaro; and a front not unlike a 69' charger (the foglights and grille, though it lacks the split; and the hood scoop). The C-pillar swoop, rims, and interior are from 68' pontiac midsizer, such as a GTO. It's the most deliberately mixed up car in the game because it has the biggest role; being Lincoln's personal car. It's honestly bordering on made for game, but the overall effect is most like a GTO.

I'd settle on 68 Pontiac LeMans or GTO.

that sounds good with me

I can't help but see a bit of AMC in the rear, either some Javelin or AMX.

with exception of the front grille and taillights this is a 68-72 GM A-Body vehicle

Now with that front wiew it looks (front only) like Camaro without lights... This is going to be hard one, but Toronado rear part is more accurate than GTO, you have good guess.

This is more like 1971 GTO than 68 GTO, if you see where I am going. This seems to be a larger car from end of muscle car era. Also, 1971 had bumper that was both bumper around mask and normal bumper from that era on sides.

Like Mustang was bigger and bigger, GTO was bigger and bigger too. And this car dont feel right to be a 60s model, but 70s, due to its size. I am not good with 1968+ GTOs, so when I said it doesnt look like one, I meant 1968 model, which I googled. It can be GTO, but not 1968 model.

The front "beak", sport rims, front foglights, and sweeping c pillar all say pontiac.

Also, this is the main car featured in the trailer, the one that belongs to the main character.

Nah, this is not GTO. Front end doesnt have bumper (well, it is bumper like ´70 Charger, all around the mask) and back end lights are inside the bumper. Rear resemble to me something more like Duster from this angle, but I did not see the video tho.
