2023-05-15 16:50 | The name Cosworth is not used on this version, since this is the World Rally Car version of the Ford Escort, not the Group A version, which is called Escort Cosworth. The Cosworth has the big rear wing and older front grille, whilst the WRC ( World Rally Car ) version that came out in 1997, to fit the new World Rally Car rules, imposed in 1997, is called Escort WRC, since it was no longer required to look identical to the road going Escort, and the road going Cosworth was discontinued in 1996, as a result of the rule changes in rallying. The WRC version pictured here has a different ( lower ) rear wing and the facelifted front end, which arrived on the normal Escorts in 1995. |
