It was built upon the Mondeo chassis to bring a Capri-like car back to the brand and as a larger alternative to the Puma. The Ford model also outlived the Mercury model by two years, continuing to be sold in Australia until 2004. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Cougar -- Last edit: 2014-04-17 22:34:03 |

2014-04-17 22:13 | I'm with Rinspeed on this. IMCDb has the Ford Cougar listed as US origin, not German origin. www.imcdb.org/vehicle_560482-Ford-Cougar-2001.html |
Tuppence870 photo_librarymode_comment 2014-04-17 20:57 | Not false... the car originated as the European Ford model, which was then built and sold in the US under Mercury. We do the same thing with Vauxhall/Opel models, even though the Astra is assembled in the UK. |
Rinspeed photo_librarymode_comment 2014-04-17 20:44 | Tuppence870 wrote This is actually a rebranded Ford Cougar from Europe. Should be origin Germany, made for USA. False also, Mercury Cougar is bulit in USA, Ford Cougar in Germany. It's a mondial vehicle. |
