Agree - Anything from the game developer added to the game would be considered just extra content.
But as you said it does become harder now we have these kind of expansions.
Now I never would post mods on here, This is why I can not add anything to Euro Truck Simulator, My game is so riddled with mods Its hard to take a screenshot that would not have one in view.. But that's going off topic.

I guess the question we are left with is what makes mods official? If they are sold by the developer, Or if they are Only made by the developer?

Also for the discussing of rules and such things this seems.. Kind of awkward? is there any forum, or place we can all talk about these kinds of things?

The problem is: What makes a mod official? Until now i thought the mod needs to be developed by the game developers.

I did not make the rules. Sorry if it offended you. My explanations were basic and can't be applied to all games here. If a mod is official or not is difficult to say on Train Simulator.

But to make one thing clear: Addons you can't get in the Steam Shop are definitely not official. Anything from 3DZug, JustTrains and RailTraction is obviously not official. Same goes for Freeware and user created content.

So until another admin says something different i will add all other mods on the Steam Shop here. Like Twilight Sparkplug did. Admins, please tell me if its wrong.

If mods aren't official, we don't put them

There's no way the latest GTA V DLC were planned from the start. If the car is an official part of the game, I'd say it belongs here, no matter who created it.

well, The rules seem to sometimes be different from page to page here if I'm honest

So Only DLC planned from the start, Granted The stories of liberty city was built into the game from the start, but does that mean the cars added from now on, Should not be added due to the fact they were not all planned from the very start of the game as the text you showed said? and I'm sure not all Forza cars were planned, Nowadays there are Paid mods, and there are DLC, To me these are more expansions to the game, since they are provided by Dovetail, for Train simulator, Sold on there site, and are in the DLC section of train simulators steam page. To me I would not class this the same as third part y paid mods you get from other sites (such as armstrongpowerhouse a site that Sells good quality mods for train simulator)

In short, This is as official as DLC gets, Think of dovetail as just a Publisher then?

I guess the easiest thing for me to do is.. Not add any content to this site.
I will just sit back and watch other people upload cars and then start arguments that way. I have no problem researching cars, But I don't want to look into who made what DLC for what game, and if it was the original dev or not.

Edit:
Just to note, I am not being aggressive or confrontational here, Please Calmly tell me if I have misinterpreted anything you have said here, Sometimes things come across differently in text

Rinspeed or someone else should do the decision here, i wont delete this truck.

Anything developed by the Developers of the original game (Dovetail Games) is an official addon or expansion. It adds something to the game which was planned from the beginning. In example in GTA V some of the cars from future expansions where already existing in the core data of the "Vanilla" game. Or if a new area is built into a RPG, the developers already left space to include it later.

Modifications are usually built without a notification to the Developer. You can release it without problems because you use core data but altering things. Anything you personally add was designed by you. Most modifications use base data or convert things from other games if possible to modify the game experience but keeping the original game.

My explanations were easy and can be applied to almost all games. For example: Spamming the Flight Simulator page on IGCD with any car that was ever modified into the game, you get a bottomless list of cars because developers still add cars to the core game as part of their mods.

So how is the case with Train Simulator 20XX? Here you have to understand that Dovetail Games supports and advertises new mods by not just only putting them into their ingame shop but by also advertising them ingame and on their website. The "Sacramento Northern route" is a prime example of an unofficial mod with big developer support. Before it was released they kept writing articles on the website how awesome that new route is. It uses zero elements of the core game except for the HUD design and the floor textures.

So how to handle this? I am not sure... let other admins deside.

So we remove the Assetto Corsa DLCs, since they're actually mods supported by the devs?

What counts as official?
I go by anything that is sold under the DLC section on steam, Excluding workshop items.
Its also sold on dovetails official Train simulator site under routes.

And Id say more 'Official' than many of the mobile, or web games on here.

Truck only ever appears once, when it unloads the train on The Corris Railway DLC
Tho the invisible track still exists during later scenarios.
