Never seen a Mitsubishi Emeraude surrounding by me, but the design looks rounded as hell, at least I watched the commercial of it :

I have never even heard of the Emeraude. :O

Though the Emeraude is not as rounded, it looks similar as far as design goes.

Just a 93+ galant, still haven't seen it before, funky looking car

Can we badge this Sumitzu? I don't know the model name.

IMO, the brand doesn't distinct to certain real life manufacturer in the game (unlike in GTA). Just to determine the country origin of the car.

Huh...I didn't even think of the Emeraude. Looking at it again, the front is a near perfect match (near perfect, because the outer portion of the headlights are carried over from the other version).

But if the changes are meant to make it look like an Emeraude, how come the manufacturer wasn't changed to Nakahawa, since that brand mainly represents Mitsubishi?

Are you hinting towards the Mitsubishi Emeraude by any chance?

Bingo! Whether people wanna put that down as its name or stick to the Eunos/Xedos I'm not sure. It is intended to look like an Emeraude, but its still heavily based on the Eunos.

And in case anyone is wondering about the many JDM spec cars in the game, a large portion of them are second hand grey imports directly from Japan. 80% of people seem to drive JDM Toyotas in Bolivia, this model was originally intended to be a Corolla Ceres, (it still has its alloys). To make sure that not everything in the game was based on vehicles from Toyota, and because I love Mazdas from this era so much (and owned a Xedos 6 myself), I decided to base it on the Xedos instead. To avoid confusion for the players, all cars in the game are LHD though.

Before anyone leaves IGCD because of the car, let me clear things up a bit:

The model was obviously based on the other variant of this sedan (in fact, it is the same car in the game), with a new front and rear fascia. While one version was indeed based on the Eunos 500/Xedos 6 (however created using the blueprint of a 4th gen 626, with a bit of Efini MS8 thrown in for the back to mix things up while sticking to the general early-mid 90s Mazda design language), the modifications seen on this variant were based on another manufacturer's JDM-only competitor of Mazda's "premium" midsize sedans. I don't want to reveal yet which car it is, but don't rely on their ingame brands too heavily, as only a limited number of names were available that wouldn't cover the whole range of brands in the game.

I think you can assume how I got the info above. If anyone's interested, I can clear up some of the other vehicles once the game is out. ;)

It's the same model with slightly different front and rear fascias and literally no other changes.

Ok, here's the nail that's gonna seal this as a Xedos 6/Eunos 500 for good...the other version of the model from this game.

www.igcd.net/vehicle.php?id=110692

Clearly, it's the same model with different front and rear styling. Guess what...that one looks even MORE like one than this one does.

Game. Set. Match.

Yeah, the car does speak for itself. There's obvious modifications, but there's even more that matches.

If there's any American car that comes close to matching this, it's a first generation Buick LaCrosse/Allure, and that's not even as close as the Mazda is.
US carcrasher88 photo_librarymode_comment

Only the grille is even somewhat close to the ION, the tail lights...yeah, they do look similar to the third generation Taurus, perhaps with a hint of Nissan 240SX in it, based on the lighting arrangement?

The side windows are a DEAD ON match for the Xedos 6/Eunos 500, there's a side marker light in the same location as the Xedos 6/Eunos 500, the door handles match...the fuel filler door matches in shape and being on the same side of the car, the headlights are split into two pieces in the same manner as the Xedos 6/Eunos 500.

It's a Mazda Xedos 6 or Eunos 500, plain as day.

How can we NOT use a brand name as evidence as to what it's based on when the brand is usually modeled after a certain brand or company? Sumitzu is a Japanese brand, not an American brand.

It's got the same badging as the Legacy wagon, which means it's a Sumitzu. That means it's definitely Japanese.

Also, it being a Mazda also makes sense for said brand, since in WD and WD2, the Rotor is a Sumitzu, and that's an RX-7.

I'd say we leave it as such.

Oldsmobile Alero? Really?

For sure this not an Alero. It resembles a mid 90s Mazda mid-size sedan for me, but there's no way in hell that this is an Alero.
