Yes, because conventional trucks aren't made for European roads unlike cabovers. Scania used to sell some conventional semis in the US but then left. So far, Volvo is the only European company that has Volvo-branded trucks sold in the US (Not talking about the business with Freightliner/Western Star with Daimler, and so on).

The trucks in this game are based off the ones in real life, but there are a few fictional elements added onto them. Even with the other 18 Wheels of Steel games, it is still recognizable.

The body seems to be that of a Mack CH, the front of this truck however is really unusual, with the oversized grille, and the blinkers look like they are bigger than the headlights if you inspect it closely. I'm not sure what to say about the stretched-out cylinder wheels on the trailer.

Updated the entry with places you can drive on. My apologies for the Canada pic taking up so little since only the southern portion is drivable and for Mexico there's only three cities you can visit.

Also added a locomotive. The entry is still not complete yet, but I might need assistance for some of those hard-to-reach areas.

Looks like I've found a better way to get ingame pics, per Silnev's advice, with this: Press hotkey 6, capture, crop = Win.

For consistency, all trucks will not have any trailer attached.

There will be more later as I will work on International, Kenworth and Peterbilt analogues.

If it makes you feel better I will rescind all of the menu shots, rear shots also. Delete my comments if you so wish but at least consider I tried, what with all the traffic and props.

It just doesn't make sense considering the game is well over a decade and a half old and you only drive trucks.

And what about my remastered pics of that Audi and Benz wagon in ATS? Are they just not getting accepted, even though the main pics there are from launch day and there are obvious differences like rims and the fact that since 1.40 there is a significant graphical upgrade?

If only my temporary ban would expire soon that is.

EDIT: Disregard that, as I have found a way to take ingame pics of the trucks.

I'm going to give this one a refresh as many of these shots are really bad. I tried it before but I couldn't get around to it (because of laziness) until now.

I don't know if the trucks need replacing apart from a few shots being in nighttime (which makes it unpresentable) and obscurities and all the trucks reuse the same few interior layouts. The camera limitations don't help which makes making pics quite difficult for the rigs.

There are also several traffic cars not listed that are in previous 18 WoS games and are there.

Changelog #1: Replaced many traffic cars, more to come soon. Will add new ones later. Also fine-tuned some vehicle's accuracies.

To my knowledge, yes. Back then SCS Software had a different paradigm for vehicles and mapmaking. It used to be possible to have the entire U.S. recreated back in 2005-07, but nowadays, it can take nearly a decade to rebuild it with the current tech SCS has now, what with the upcoming Texas and Montana DLC and the California Rebuild. That and it can be extremely costly. Have that in mind that ValuSoft - a THQ subsidiary - ran them until 2012.

SCS uses Google Street View, among other things, map references and satellite imagery as a reference for routes and the general map layout. Contribute that and transform it into a virtual model for all to see can take months on end. That's why it takes longer to make new state maps, alongside remastering old ones.

And this was done with a group of about 10-20 people at SCS. It's now what, 200? More? Which is impressive knowing how far this developer has come a long way.

I used to love initiating chases with this. The cops here are godlike, pushing anything out of the way to catch you. I saw one or two instances where a cop literally pushed a car out of the way, as if the cops here have rig-like qualities. Endless fun, this right here.
