The in-game dialogue and model filename suggest that it's a Golf, and it appears to be pretty similar to the pictures. I don't consider grilles to be indicative of model and make, since making one up is the easiest ways for game designers to avoid litigation, but I admit that it shares some similarities to the Yugo. In fact, Yugos and Golfs looking strikingly similar in general

But as pointed out previously the file is called German Hatch, the interior is defnintley Golf like. I think in the game designers effort to make it not too similar to a Golf they ended up with a Yugo.
