the pillars and roof are kind of like a Ford Flex
I see more a Lincoln Navigator rather than a Ford Explorer (by a slight chance). Even the "Dundreary" brand is the in-game version of Lincoln cars.
But Landstalker is much smaller then Ganger and Suburban and Expedition are in same class.
Front is more based on Explorer, rear as well.
Only boxy body is similar to Expedition's.
Also car is meant to be Mercury Mountaineer but, Rockstar modeled it this way.
This car is not an Explorer, the front end is definitely more similar to a 2007+ Expedition:
Also, the Explorer is much shorter than the Landstalker.

Same here, and it was changed AGAIN without ANY debate (except this), dear god...
The Dundreary Landstalker is a full-size luxury SUV driven by people you assume must be drug dealers or trophy wives, because that's easier than dealing with the very real possibility that they might just be more attractive and successful than you are.
Rear portion reminds me of Land Rover Freelander.
Oooh goodie, two-tone colours!
OK, i give up.
I thought this was already over, the RR Sport in GTA is the Huntley Sport, and this is just a LWB Expetition, the evidence is clear.

I will refer you to J-2 comment on 2012-03-07 13:33. BTW It's a Ford Expedition.
It looks much more like an EL than a RR Sport. This has many features supporting that fact. The Range Rover never came in an extnended body, the Expedition did, the Front grill bears similarities to a shrunken Current-Gen. Expedition, the rear may not look much like it but it has more similarities to an Expedition EL.
@Mieguy I'll be honest, I wasn't speaking solely to you in thatr comment, I was actually reading some of the comments before J-2's comment with the screenshots, and then noticed your comments afterwards arguing that it still may be based on a Range Rover. However, you seem to be basing this solely on the lights and grille, which as J-2 said, isn't important if the rest of the car is based on something else. If you look at some other cars from GTA IV, the Cognoscenti is a perfect example - it has elements from a Bentely (front end) and a Maybach (rest of the car), however, the Maybach influence overshadows the Bentley. The Sultan is another perfect example - elements of a Subaru and a Lexus, though the Subaru influence is less obvious in that case.
Also I'm not stupid, I know you're only pointing out the valid similarities between aspects of the Landstalker and the Range Rover as justification as to why it may be based on a Range Rover rather than an Expedition, not claiming it isn't a Landstalker (I never said you were denying it was a Landstalker, was just stating the obvious for anyone else who read it). So sorry if my comment got to you the wrong way, it wasn't aimed solely at you. Like I said though, this is another case where the car has elements of two vehicles, the Ford and the RR. The Ford influence is more prominent.

WHAT!? i am not ignoring J-2's posts! Everytime he was posting something i was referring to it. Once i even quoted him!
If you are talking about this ferrari thing... i dont get his point. Maybe he means, if you drive the landstalker, it feels like the Expedition. Okay, i agree with that. Its overall design might give the thinking, this is an Expedition.
And to referr to J-2's last posting, which i also DONT Ignore!
The Trafic has a very unique shape, and i mean VERY unique. You can tell that by the side windows. But in the landstalker-case even the side windows dont match with expedition. C-pillar is colored on expedition.
EDIT: Now i start to understand what you want to tell me... I never said "This is not a Landstalker". Show me ONE quote where i said this is not a landstalker! I didnt even think of it. It is 100 % the GTA IV Landstalker.
I now stop this debate, because this is ridicolous. You dont want to have 3 Range Rover-based cars on one game, i understand that. But please, STOP repeating "this is the same like in GTA IV". It pisses me off. I stop saying its a range rover, you stop saying its the same as GTA IV, OKAY!? i NEVER SAID ANYTHING LIKE "THIS IS NOT A LANDSTALKER"!!!
btw, Range Rover is also available with roof rails, just to tumble down that Expedition similarity... www.expeditionexchange.com/safetydevices/rr3.jpg

I can't believe a debate has actually began here, especially when J-2 provided undeniable proof that it's a Landstalker (which is based on an Expedition), although it seems people are choosing to ignore it.
Reminds of the debate in the past on another website/forum where people thought GTA III's Liberty City and GTA IV's Liberty City were the same place in the same timeline. Okay, maybe not that extreme, but still.

But yet again. In GTA IV a car was already based on the RR Sport. And now, in V, there's a car based on the Range Rover. So the Landstalker can't be either.
Also, the headlights are not important at all!
According to that, this:
Should be a VW Transporter, and it's just a Trafic with Transporter lights.
You guys forget it's still that trailer back then. As always, in beta stage cars couldn't be looking exactly the same as in the final product. But for me, they just re-used the IV's model of Landstalker for the trailer.
after looking at this collage i still stay on my opinion. The only similarity with the Ford is the roof rail and the length of the wheelbase.
Similarities to Range Rover: front grille (-> also in relation with its composed position to the headlights)
Similarities to Range Rover Sport: Rear lights
So the bigger and more important similarities are head lights, grille and rear lights. Thats my opinion on this topic, but look how this was handled with other car on IGCD. We had always listed cars after its head or rear lights, not after criterias like Roof rail or Wheelbase!!

I took the time to make a collage of all the vehicles mentioned in comparison with the landstalker. Hope this helps.
This looks nothing like a RR!
That means nothing. For example, the Super GT have Ferrari 360 rear lights. Which should obviuosly be on the Turismo. And that doesn't make the Super GT a Ferrari.
The name also is irrelevant. The Landstalker name existed back in 2001, and back then, the car was a Jeep, not a Ford. And finally, we have 3 different cars, this, which is a Ford Expedition, the Huntley Sport, which is a Range Rover Sport, and the presumably going to be called Huntley in GTA V, which is a Range Rover.
Your picture of the Huntley Sport proves it even more that the Landstalker is a Range Rover. And you see, Land Rover sounds similar to Land Stalker!
and to add, maybe you missunderstood me. I know, that the GTA V Landstalker is the same as the GTA IV Landstalker. But i mean, the GTA IV Landstalker is also a Range Rover and NOT an Expedition
they obviously even used a photo of a Range Rover rear light for the GTA IV rear light. Look at the similarities in the rear lights inside!
-- Last edit: 2012-03-07 16:03:48
It's a game!! Why the rear lights should be modelled after the real Expedition?
Again, here we have GTA IV's Landstalker, GTA V's Landstalker, and the Huntley Sport from GTA IV. I think this speaks for itself:
And obviously they didn't changed the front. It's illogical. All cars from IV in V looks exactly the same as they were in GTA IV.

I just noticed an interesting thing. Look at the rear lights. The Expedition has square rear lights, the RR sport not. The Landstalker also hasnt the same. I made this picture to explain what i mean. I am talking about the green line.
For me its clearly not an Expedition. The view of the landstalker rear lights is not accurate, it looks square in my comparison. So its better to compare it with the main picture. You will see what i mean.
also look at the field for the number plate, or the chrome on the trunk door. Definetely Range Rover.
oh and btw, stop with this "its the same like in GTA IV so its an Expedition". The GTA IV car is also a Range Rover...

how can you say that? the landstalker in GTA San Andreas was a jeep cherokee. And you cant even see the front in this picture. if someone changes the shot to the front, I might retract my previous statement. But not a pic from GTA IV
What? It's exactly the same model as the one in GTA IV!
The rear lenses are now clear, instead of red and orange, that's all.
Also, the RR Sport was the Huntley Sport. In V it may have been dropped, since now there's a full sized Range Rover, but since this is the same as the one in IV, it's an Expedition.
No. Its definitely a Range Rover Sport. www.carsimg.org/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/2006-arden-range-rover-sport-rear.jpg just because it was an expedition it GTA IV doesnt mean its gonna be the same. Just open your eyes and look at the picture. The licence plate fitting matches, the tail lights match and the rear bumper matches perfectly with the Range Rover Sport.
This is definitely an Expedition.
Range Rover Sport.

I'm pretty sure that's an Emperor
yea but the landstalker was a jeep cherokee in san andreas. also the rear looks more like a range rover sport. can anyone post a pic of the front?
Isn't that a Manana on the right?
The Landstalker in IV had the same logo and that was definitely an Expedition.
the logo directly under the window reminds me of the Lincoln-Logo, so possibly Lincoln Navigator?
Random plates are back!
