So, The grille is taken from a Toyota Tacoma, including it's wheels, and there's a red line on the back. :think:

@ouigcd ya uhhh, it's called UVmapping. the texmap for it has the actual explorer grill and headlights and rear end with no stripe on the rear

For a clear answer to why, we don't know. But considering to the races that they do spawn in, my best answer is that the developers make them spawn there in order to make the race a bit more challenging and to a lesser extent, make the race feel, eh, more realistic. Another reason is because at the time they could only make so many different cars spawn in traffic, regardless if 1 in every 3 cars on the road are merely different colors of the same car.
