Who can say when the innovative hot rod designs of the 30s and 40s shaded into the grungy rat rod counterculture of subsequent decades? And who can say when that genre was overrun by mediocre welders with endless disposable income mutilating good cars and jacking off to their own edginess in the back seat? What we can say is that this beauty comes with a moist towel as standard.

True that. I never saw the appeal in making your car look like a Barn Find with fat tires and stupid exhaust piles.

Well, I never saw the appeal in making your car look like a Christmas Tree with huge stupid spoilers that do more harm than good. There's a lot of styles for cars that many might find "stupid", and others that it seems not ENOUGH people think look stupid.
I like that these cars tend to be a lot more about "go" and less about "show". Sure, they might get attention, but only because they look like shit, until you notice the engine and tires that make your everyday sedan shit itself.

Now that I think about it, isn't Rat Rod sort of like Grunge? You don't care about your looks, because to you that doesn't matter as much as others seems to think.

Alternate main image of the car that wasn't ripped from the in-game website (also doesn't have "CrewBoss" plastered over it): i.imgur.com/qi3rchu.jpg

It should be noted that the engine block's colour is the same as the body colour. Which is neat.

First, thank you for correcting me about the butterfly valves.

Now for a super-quick review of this car.

It looks awesome as is, which is good, because there are two hood options and one exhaust option. That's it.

Blower drive pulleys move but butterfly valves do not. The stock velocity stack intakes do not have any valves.

The rear wheels cannot be changed. They are always the "Five Star" wheels with massive drag slicks. Fine by me.

Interior is unchanged from standard Beater Tornado.

Engine is typical wedge-head American V8. Wiki says it's SOHC but the heads aren't wide enough and the spark plugs are in the wrong spot. It does however have drive sprockets that suggest it COULD be SOHC but, well it isn't.

Car is surprisingly slow but responds very nicely to engine and transmission tuning. Brakes suck. Understeer everywhere.

In conclusion: great fun, impractical, good for "punk" flavoured MC's but sadly little else.

I don't understand why Rockstar decided to add 1 vehicle per week

This car is now available. It's $376'000 and is worth that price.
You're gonna want to get bullet-proof tires, though.

This thing is pretty much a Mad Max car.

It would be nice if they could finally update the bug catchers to have moving butterfly valves (the Phoenix in Vice City had them for goodness' sake!)

Yeah, that's really damn stupid

PS: Fixed your post a bit, you're welcome

Actually, all of the accessory drives on the engine are animated. Since the Franken Stange uses the same engine model, it will be animated as well. It would be nice if they could finally update the bug catchers to have moving butterfly valves (the Phoenix in San Andreas had them for goodness' sake!) but GTA Online is more than three years old now and I doubt they'll do anything.

I love this car, and I've been grinding like crazy to be able to afford it (since it's $378,000.)

The special offer will give you 250k if you join GTA O somewhere between now and the October 31st. Cash will be deposited November 4th, so there isnt need to grind that much.

As for the actual car, I would quite like it if the engine block was actually animated which it isn't going to be (100% certain on that)

But Rockstar actually did some research on something wow

Actually, rat rods are just hot rods with the restoration process skipped. If a crucial part of the car is missing (like a door), they'll take a rusty door off of a similar car from a junkyard. The parts on the to-be rat rod that are too far gone, they replace with clean parts. I think just the body, doors, fenders, etc are the parts that remain unrestored.

True, but I like the fact that it's inspired by the more extreme side of the rat rod culture instead of just being painted and patina'd up to look like a 'common' rat rod.

These extreme beasts seem to toe a line between rat rod and Mad Max Apocalypse machine, and I'm a big fan of them myself. Plus, it's nice to see something unique done with the Tornado, following the lowrider version.

For those curious, these are the kinds of machines I'm referring to...

wheelsaddicts.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/ratrod-1024x576.jpg

...so it's not just something for the sake of reusing a model, but to actually acknowledge this part of the culture.

But...I don't expect it to be cheap.
