The game's graphics don't really HAVE to reflect the year the game was released in - Megaman 9 is a perfect example, although this game seems fairly dated. And of course, you have to remember that a game with good graphics doesn't always turn out to be a good/fun game - GTA IV for example, or pretty much any 'next gen' graphics-fest.
