This, besides Rage Racer, became a reason why I started to get into realistic racing games at age 12 after playing Ridge Racer Revolution and Daytona USA at 10 after getting frustrated about repeatedly losing the bumper car race in Cosmic Spacehead on the Genesis at 9. My hat's off to the creators who made this game. I'm 24 now and still reminiscing on the days when Gran Turismo was the hot new thing back in 1998.

This game was first released in December 23, 1997 in Japan, and thus should be listed as a 1997 game.

I agree with this comment, as the Gran Turismo 2 page has the Japanese release date (1999) so why doesn't this?

It's a PS1 game. The graphics are amazing for 32-bit (if you're wondering, it's the same graphic quality as a game boy advance).

Interestingly enough, the NTSC-J version has a much more "grounded" (and better IMO) driving model compared to the PAL version, which is very loose in comparison.

Yes, but they're obtainable only with Gameshark.
