Catastrophically awful is the only way to describe this game, at least for the Playstation version. As the title suggests, the game is centered upon racing around various locations in London, except that London Racer's version of London is rather geographically inaccurate. Apparently you can get to the Millennium Dome mere seconds away from the M25. Further to this, the streets of London are eerily desolate, with so little traffic it feels like you only see one traffic car per mile. And then we have the graphics, which depicts London as seams of woeful cardboard as the broken scenery shows through, which would barely have been acceptable in 1995 yet alone 5 years later. A blunt set of crayolas would have done a more sufficent job. The damn game even forbids you from driving on the pavement, which further adds to its shabby collision detection which is unbearable. To add a layer of excitement to this uninspiring title, the local constabulary do at least give chase but unfortunately seem very incompetent, since they literally give up after a mere few seconds. But perhaps the biggest insult to London Racer is its replay value. Should you care to trawl through the entire ordeal, you will be greeted with a polite "game over" message and then encouraged to continue. What this means is that you have to restart the whole game again, but are not even granted access to selectable tracks, so the game follows a complete one way path with no further modes. It really is just shocking, but to add to this further sequels were even born.

Fortunately however my spirits were lifted somewhat after playing the PC version, which is vastly superior in practically every way. The graphics have been lifted from dismal to acceptable, there is actually traffic, you are given many more different cars and there is even a multitude of game modes. To put simply, the Playstation version is one of my least favourite games to ever grace the gaming world. Avoid like the plague.

Ok, one good point about the Playstation version? You can demolish speed cameras.

What is the inferior version. I bought this game and it only had the following cars till the end of the game:

Austin Cooper
Audi TT
Jaguar XK8
Volkswagen Beetle
Vauxhall Astra
BMW Z3

And that was it. I did the 6th race and it said i'd done everything and just let me play all the previous races and nothing else.

As I said in the previous comment, the Playstation version is vastly inferior to the PC version. You must have had the Playstation version that only contains those cars, with the sports cars only available in the PC version.

I needed to take a shower .

But there is one good thing about the PSX version, the Traffic cars are animated .

Davilex and Team6 suck! Xform is the best development team in the Netherlands!
