mm2mm1fan 2017-03-12 03:46 | Reckless Driver is a freeware game made by carking1996 that's like a spiritual successor to the Midtown Madness game series. The strongest part of the game is that it can be easily modded from the UI, to the cars, to even the maps you drive on. ![]() -- Last edit: 2017-03-12 03:48:17 |
carcrasher88 2017-03-12 04:17 | That's a rather interesting idea. I'd love it if it meant someone figured a way to import one of the maps from Midnight Club 3, that would be awesome. |
carrera 2017-03-12 21:27 | Are there any videos of this? |
JFK 2017-03-12 22:35 | Dont tell me I need blender for modding... |
mm2mm1fan 2017-03-12 23:23 | You can use ZM1 to work on a car or track and ZM2 to export to obj -- Last edit: 2017-03-12 23:23:29 |
mm2mm1fan 2017-03-12 23:23 | Not yet |
carking1996 2017-03-12 23:48 | I'm the creator. You can use any modeling software. The format is OBJ anyway lol |
JFK 2017-03-13 00:12 | Okay, i never saw any files with such extensions as far as I can remember, and I am not a fan of Blender, so it is good to hear I can use ZM. |
strike9 2017-03-13 05:59 | I like this game and I have good hopes for it. I used a model from sketchup that I needed an excuse to finish, spent 5 hours on it, and finally got it to work in game after wasting hours trying to figure out why it wasn't working, it turned out the "b" in the body of the model was capitalized....... -- Last edit: 2017-03-13 06:07:30 |
CarCrazedAlex586 (5) 2017-03-13 16:54 | An open-source freeware game? That sounds good to me. |
carking1996 2017-03-13 17:43 | No code is open, but default models are modifiable and UI and tracks can be edited easily. ![]() |
CarCrazedAlex586 (5) 2017-03-13 20:05 | Sorry, I thought open-source meant open modding. |
carking1996 2017-03-13 20:27 | It is open modding in other ways. Cars can be added, you can have a million cars. Tracks can be added, you can have a ton of addon tracks. |
CarCrazedAlex586 (5) 2017-03-13 20:30 | Is there a polygon limit for cars? |
carking1996 2017-03-13 21:11 | I wouldn't add anything too crazy, but the limit is your computer |
CarCrazedAlex586 (5) 2017-03-13 22:00 | So high-detailed cars with interiors are possible. I think there should be drivers with moving arms! |
Speedevil 2017-03-13 22:15 | If you can only import models that's impossible. |
carking1996 2017-03-13 22:36 | I could definitely make it possible |
Speedevil 2017-03-14 00:47 | Of course. ![]() |
CarCrazedAlex586 (5) 2017-03-14 10:28 | I'm gonna convert this SketchUp car here: 3dwarehouse.sketchup.com/model/677aefbc0deaa1307d2ee99b69c27298/1998-BMR-Motors-TE-28 This car will feature working headlights, turn signals (How do you turn those on?) and taillights. |
carcrasher88 2017-03-14 16:53 | I can't add any models or anything myself, but may I make some suggestions? I've found some really nice free models on the internet, including some that would make great traffic vehicles and could add more lesser seen cars onto the site if implemented as standard traffic vehicles. |
mm2mm1fan 2017-03-14 17:59 | Where are these models are at? I mod the game so I could convert them. |
CarCrazedAlex586 (5) 2017-03-14 19:09 | Perhaps Crash Time or World Racing traffic models would work. |
carcrasher88 2017-03-14 19:31 | archive3d.net/?category=28&page=1 Archive 3D has a lot of models that would be great for traffic, including if maps for other countries are added to the game in the future. So far, I've found a Mitsubishi Lancer, a Volkswagen Golf Mk5, a Volkswagen Passat B5.5, a Daewoo Nexia, a Dodge Caravan, a Checker Marathon, a Dodge Charger police car (if you're looking for an NPC police vehicle, it's a pretty well done model), Mitsubishi iMiEV, Peugeot Bipper, Opel Astra, Saturn L-Series, Mercedes-Benz GLK... I'm still looking through and seeing what's available. It's really a great selection. There's even trucks, ambulances, tractors, aircraft tugs, motorcycles, etc. |
JFK 2017-03-14 19:39 | Those are not free but they are pack of 24 Urban Pack I think |
Aginnon 2017-03-14 19:56 | Haunted by those low-poly cars... Jeez! |
strike9 2017-03-14 19:59 | What about original MM cars? I wonder if even the primitive traffic models would be salvageable with some better textures, classic nfs games, gta, there's endless conversion possibilities. -- Last edit: 2017-03-14 20:03:00 |
Aginnon 2017-03-14 20:10 | Need For Speed: Porsche Unleashed works best. |
carcrasher88 2017-03-14 20:16 | Maybe Burnout Paradise models? I remember seeing somewhere that someone converted both the Hunter Cavalry and Watson R-Turbo Roadster from that game to GTA IV, and the Krieger Pioneer and Hunter Citizen were converted to San Andreas, so maybe those models could work here? Edit: Also, if anyone's looking for wheels and tires for cars, that Archive 3D page I linked to earlier has a few wheel and tire models if you want better wheels and tires for your own custom models. -- Last edit: 2017-03-14 20:18:31 |
carcrasher88 2017-03-14 20:52 | oppositelock.kinja.com/if-you-guys-like-home-grown-mod-friendly-and-community-1793268427?rev=1489521142100 As a member of Oppositelock, a sub-site of automotive enthusiast site Jalopnik, I felt it might help to give this game a little further exposure. Hope you don't mind. There's a lot of folks on there who love driving and racing games, and I think some of them might be able to bring some great ideas to the game. I shared the game's website, this page, and the forums, so that if anyone's interested, they have everything they need to get started. Posting the game to here has clearly spurred some serious interest and activity with the game, and I just wanted to spread some of that around. (: |
CarCrazedAlex586 (5) 2017-03-14 21:39 | But those models are properties of Criterion Games only. They should work as mods only. Also, searching on the internet for converting Burnout Paradise models is a pain. |
carking1996 2017-03-14 21:51 | All cars are modeled myself, but the traffic cars were a pack I bought. I have made traffic cars already to replace them so they're all RD originals. |
strike9 2017-03-15 00:48 | Or you can use sketchup to make the model , export to DAE, Then go here www.greentoken.de/onlineconv/ use that site to convert the dae to a 3ds open that 3ds in zmod2 export it again to a 3ds, and then import that into zmod 1. texture it make adjustments, what not. save it then open it in zmod 2 to export as obj. -- Last edit: 2017-03-15 00:53:02 |
carking1996 2017-03-15 03:10 | Yup! Fire truck, drag car, limousine, and some other secret cars! |
GamerFIB7590 2017-03-15 04:16 | Also the cop cars |
Speedevil 2017-03-15 06:58 | Or just open it with Blender and export it as an obj. ![]() |
carking1996 2017-03-15 14:26 | Probably a couple weeks. Users can always make their own ! |
carking1996 2017-03-15 21:27 | Sure go ahead |
carking1996 2017-03-17 04:27 | Looks good to me |
carking1996 2017-03-17 18:17 | Someone made a video www.youtube.com/watch?v=cih_9ajaYt4&feature=youtu.be |
CarCrazedAlex586 (5) 2017-03-17 19:26 | One of my mods was featured! o_0 |
Sajmon14 2017-03-18 12:29 | Which one was yours? |
CarCrazedAlex586 (5) 2017-03-19 09:04 | The BMR TS 2.8. |
mm2mm1fan 2017-03-19 14:45 | Also the Dinka Jester I converted was on the video as well ![]() |
carking1996 2017-03-24 01:23 | Just wanna let everyone know a huge update is coming: - 15 races - HUGE map expansion, almost 2x the size - Lots of bug fixes - Lots of new additions - PURSUIT mode!! ![]() -- Last edit: 2017-03-24 01:28:28 |
carking1996 2017-03-28 18:19 | There's a possibility |
Aginnon 2017-04-04 15:49 | I can make a model, based on a Porsche Boxster if I get a chance. |
carking1996 2017-04-07 20:25 | Well, you can release it as a mod! |
Aginnon 2017-04-07 20:35 | Or likely I'll export the Boxster model from Need for Speed: Porsche 2000 and make it without a interior, which could be a pain. |
CarCrazedAlex586 (5) 2017-04-07 20:41 | The interior doesn't matter, you can make the windows opaque. |
mm2mm1fan 2017-06-27 23:04 | HUGE update for the game has been released, you can get it here! recklessdriver.arrowblock.com/download |
CarCrazedAlex586 (5) 2017-06-27 23:56 | It was about time, I almost completely forgot about the game. |
carking1996 2017-06-30 01:53 | More updates to come guys |
strike9 2017-10-12 04:56 | what's the current status of this game now?, I noticed the forums are down. |
carcrasher88 2017-10-12 05:22 | Looks like things might have been in the process of being redone, as now the main link leads to a page with downloads, a forum, etc., but there's pretty much nothing posted. Not even anything where the game can be downloaded. Maybe the project is getting a reboot or something? Page has the same logo for the game and everything. |
mm2mm1fan 2017-10-17 17:24 | Yep it's getting rebooted, new simulation of car physics, new cars, old ones are getting redone, better graphics, new file formats. Everything is going to change expect the city and engine basically. Should be out in a month -- Last edit: 2017-10-17 17:27:58 |
carking1996 2017-11-03 14:32 | Here's what I put on the new website.. (recklessdriver.arrowblock.com) Hello, Reckless Driver 1.7 will soon be coming out! We've been working extremely hard on this update to make it the best Reckless Driver version we've ever put out there! This update includes a massive list of features including an entirely new set of 13 vehicles, modeled out more thoroughly and detailed, all new file formats for tuning and vehicle files, all new model file formats making modding the game easier, a nearly-finished Seaview city, new graphic design for all the UI! But the biggest update are the entirely-new vehicle physics! Worked from the ground up, Reckless Driver's vehicle physics are now a great simulation of vehicle physics, and we're now allowing many many wheeled vehicles from 3-wheeled vehicles and up! Some other notable updates include an entirely new lighting system inside the game, numerous bug fixes to the game itself, changes to race type names, and more! |
carking1996 2017-11-03 14:33 | ![]() ![]() A preview of two of the 13 new cars.. I already have most of it done. -- Last edit: 2017-11-03 14:34:36 |
carcrasher88 2017-11-03 22:40 | Honda City and Toyota RAV4, I assume? |
carking1996 2017-11-12 14:47 | Yup! Also coming are parodies of an armored bank truck, parking cop(small 3-wheeled vehicle), Caprice and Caprice Taxi variant, Corvette (stingray based) with police variant, VW Microbus, Lotus GT1, and an open-wheeled vehicle! |
RushCars24 2017-11-12 14:53 | Both pics should be links, wider pics eventually stretched the site's whole page. |
carking1996 2018-01-16 18:48 | Since RD is getting a major overhaul, UI was also involved! Check it out on the new forums! recklessdriver.arrowblock.com/forum/index.php |
