Wow, ANOTHER new Tom Clancy game? First it's Rainbow Six Siege, then The Division, and now this?

Tom Clancy must be very busy writing stories for games..... He's dead for god sake, leave him alone :(

Ubisoft bought the Tom Clancy name just before he died and Rainbow Six from my understanding has always had Tom Clancy in the title.

Ubisoft bought Red Storm Entertainment, which was led by Tom Clancy. To my knowledge he was only involved in the very first Rainbow Six

First person shooter? As far as I know, every Ghost Recon is a third person shooter.

I was wondering when it would be added to the site. Guess I must have missed it somehow. Make sure to check both trailers to get better shots of some of the vehicles already listed.

Seriously because before e3 the date was supposedly holiday 2016. Its good though. We need ubisoft to focus on one game eventhough different studios i think

New Trailer:

stryder237 EN (3)

2017-02-03 21:03

I've been playing the beta today, and the game is OK. You have almost no health, but the combat isn't good enough to make it a truly realistic shooter. (or maybe I'm just crap, which is likely)

There aren't many vehicles in the game, and they all have brand names from watch dogs, but no surnames. Also, I've noticed many vehicle types have slight duplicates. For example, there are two 90s American sedans, one is the roadmaster listed here and the other is almost identical apart from the front and rear fascisas, there's also two 90s Japanese ecnobox sedans, both with superficial differences at the front and rear.

The physics model when driving is predictable terrible. Car get too there very slow top speeds in seconds, can turn on a dime, yet have the annoying quality of being very hard to drive without crashing as they float around like they're hovering, like in similar games with crap driving models. The damage is also appalling, and would be twenty years ago. Whenever you hit something, no matter the speed, some preset damage is done to the area that was hit, no matter if it was a 5 or 50mph collision.

I just made a discovery the cars have the same manufacturers as the cars in watch dogs XD same universe maybe?

stryder237 EN (3)

2017-02-04 12:09

There's a theory that all ubisoft games are connected. Assassins Creed and Watch Dogs are in the same universe, now we know that Wildlands is connected to the both of them, and I'm pretty sure Far Cry and The Crew are connected to the others too.

Even if your PC might not be able to run the game in max settings, I would recommend to take screenshots with higher lighting/shadow and texture resolution settings, as the graphics by far don't look as good as they could in the screens atm. :) Hope this doesn't sound insulting lol.

Now that the game is released, I think I can finally reveal that I have been part of the team that created the vehicles for Wildlands (in fact, I was directly responsible for most of them ;) ). Let's see if I can answer some of the questions I have seen before (without telling you things you aren't supposed to know :) ).

I've seen quite a bit of confusion about the ingame vehicle brands since they are at a first glance the same as in Watch Dogs. The reason for this is quite simple: We decided to reuse the names and logos because we knew they were copyright safe, and nobody seemed to care that this could be interpreted as a cross-reference between the Ghost Recon and Watch Dogs universe. There's definitely no implication from our side that both games could be set in the same universe.

You might have noticed that some of the names and logos don't quite match their WD1/WD2 counterparts. I'm not sure about why the Global Motors name was changed to Decussine (French for upside down cross I think? Reference to Cadillac which has its origin in french as well). The logos however were edited because I wasn't a fan of some of their designs, some of them just looked too "simple" in my eyes and needed a bit of work to look like something that could be designed to be a real life company logo.

The ingame branding of the vehicles in GR does not necessarily follow their real life branding either. Unfortunately we did not have enough fictional brand names at the end of the project (when vehicles got their badging) to give each real life manufacturer an ingame counterpart. I did try to give vehicle models a brand name that would fit their country of origin, however it is possible that one Toyota vehicle could be a Nakahawa, while another one could be a Sumitzu. I would have liked to have a bigger selection of manufacturer and model names, its definitely something we keep in mind for future projects, this time other things had a much higher priority though.

I hope that clears things up a bit. If you wanna know anything else, just ask. I'll try to answer them as best as I can.

@schaefft:

Good work on modelling those cars in GR. They look WAY more realistic than those in both WD and WD2 (assuming that you also worked on modelling WD2 cars). It's just a bit of a shame that you weren't reusing some cars from WD2 that I think it will fit in this game perfectly (i.e. the Brubeck Wildebeest), and seeing that this game have some good looking models, I just hope that some of them will make it to the next version of Watch Dogs.

Speedevil BE (104)

2017-03-07 02:23

Decussine isn't a French word at all. All I could find is a molecule that has the same name. :p
Good job with the cars, they look realistic and seem to fit the setting well, even for somebody that has no idea about what kind of cars is sold Bolivia.

these arnt the whole lineup of cars. .or are they ? if so i hope they add in the future because for a huge map a bigger variety would be nice

schaefft DE (0)

2017-03-07 20:14

Thanks for the comments! Making sure they look like real cars (and not just something forcefully modified to please the legal team) was one of the highest priorities, I wish that was always the case...

We didn't actually work on the vehicle models of WD2 (can't say why), but you'll noticed that most of our WD1 vehicles were carried over. We used less than a handful as base for vehicles in Wildlands (the E-Series van for example) as I personally didn't think they were good enough. The cars in this game have about half the polycount (but probably twice the detail) compared to the stuff we did for WD. We will definitely try to use them as base for future projects, however we always try avoiding reusing assets from one project in another if the game hasn't even come out yet.

And no, whats been uploaded so far is not the complete vehicle lineup, there are many more unique cars in the main game and as you might have seen in the trailer, there are a few modified/new ones coming up in the DLCs.

About the handling: Well, I think its something you need to get used to. Playing with a controller, I cannot quite understand some of the criticism. There's room for improvement, its definitely not horrible though. You need to remember that most of the terrain is completely unsuitable for any ground vehicles, being able to navigate such a harsh terrain in any type of car at all is quite a challenge. No idea what it feels like using a keyboard though.

Its a weird combination of two words french words I think, I'll need to ask my colleague again as I can't quite remember how he came up with it.

@schaeft the car handling isnt the best , i think the major issue for some is that they feel weightless almost .. i cant really judge because i only played it a while b4 finding out it needs a 2.7gb update on release :/

Hello. I could name some new copyright car companies for you? Phoenix could resemble Toyota. The logo would be an abstract bird. NLE could resemble BMW and its logo would be a boat. PolarStar could be Chevrolet. the logo would be a star. Model names could be Speed X for a Nakahawa resembling a Mitsubishi Evolution X. Ceonix could be a NLE car resembling the BMW 5 Series. Hope I cleared up car names. EDIT: Dragon could be a Phoenix car resembling the Toyota Corolla. Neon could be a PolarStar car resembling the Chevrolet Cruze sedan. Also the Geolinter could be a NLE car resembling the BMW 5 GT. The model names could be in Watch Dogs 3. The 3 new manufacturers will be both in Tom Clancy, I hope they will be drivable like in Ghost Recon Wildlands, and in Watch Dogs 3 and beyond.
