Mad Mike (17) 2015-09-15 21:14 | As a Mad Max Fan, I've found the game to be thoroughly enjoyable. It is for the most part, the Mad Max Game I've always wanted. There is some fantastic detail, the need to keep stocked up on resources such as: Water, Gas, Ammo & Scrap (used as currency), is always present, but you can make that easier by building alliances with Strongholds. If you help them, then they can help you by providing resources periodically. There are some very cool Upgrades for the main Vehicle "The Magnum Opus", a lot of which have to be balanced, such as countering the extra weight of the Ramming Grille & Armour by upgrading the Suspension, Tires & Engine. The Weapons can also be upgraded, and there are several cosmetic options for the car (Body, Colour, Decals, Hood Ornaments). Most Vehicles in the game are driveable & can be stored at any Stronghold you're allied with. You can even use them to gain entry to an Enemy Camp. The Auto Combat is good fun, with a few weapons at your disposal. - It's very satisfying using side-mounted Flame Throwers on a Pick-up Truck loaded with Bad Guys whom want to board your vehicle - The Harpoon can be used to rip parts off of cars &/or pull the driver out - The Thunderpoon is essentially an improvised RPG - Max Can Fire his shotgun from the car and target the driver, tires or gas tank of another vehicle - Sniper Rifle can be used to pick off Camp Defences from a distance On Foot combat is nice and simple, and it needs to be if you're going to take on 10 or more War Boys on your own. The Sand Storms & Lightning Storms are a great touch. You can be in the middle of a battle and one of the enemies gets taken out by a piece of debris being blown around, or gets struck by lightning. Across the board, I find the Visuals & Audio to be very good. The Cars & the environment mostly look great. If you see anything in the far distance, you can usually go to it. There is lots to do outside of the main story: - Wasteland (Side) Missions (usually gains access to extra upgrades or rare vehicles) - Various Wasteland Encounters (Provide you with: Intel, Specific Tasks or Loot) - Clearing out enemy camps (4 different types) - Taking out Convoys - Destroying Scarecrows, Sniper positions & Minefields - Death Runs/Races - loads of scavenging locations, some buried deep in ruins of the 'Pre-Fall' World Game also runs very smooth on PC If you like the Mad Max Movies and Open world games, then I definitely recommend it.EDIT: Almost every vehicle is now uploaded (some pending moderation). Mad Mike (17) 2015-09-19 14:54 | Had to beat me to it. All I keep coming across is the non-armoured or heavy armoured versions hehe. I was about to go find the Death Race/Run where it's the prize. Technically this is not a racing game. There are the Death Run/Races, of which you only have to win one to advance the story (Win or Die). Then there is the Gastown Race, which is more like a Demolition Derby/Gauntlet on a race track (Win or Die). The rest is Driving/Auto-Combat/On-Foot Combat & Resource gathering. To be honest I don't see how or why you would compare this to Forza Motorsport, Need for speed or The Crew. If you are a Mad Max fan, then I'd say this is definitely worth it. The Story fits in nicely with the Mad Max Lure. My only annoyance/s are: - the player cars self-righting (like in Driver SF), but then again in a post-apocalyptic world I wouldn't want to roll my car over, hehe - The best of the V8 engine sounds are not used for the 'Magnum Opus's Best V8 upgrades or the 'Last of the V8s/Interceptor', but the sounds that are used are reasonable - Cut-scenes cannot be paused - A mission replay feature would of been nice I'll add my previous response to someone else's request for first impressions: |
